New to Golf Talk & New to Golf overall

Hi all, I'm new to this game. I've started playing in the golf range for now about three months for a total of about 8 visits. I'm starting to get comfortoble with some of my irons but still need plenty of practice on my woods.

At what point is it a good time to start going to a golf course? I can't wait to play in one but I feel that I'm not ready at this point.

Also I would like to start playing on my own while on the golf course is this something that is seen normal? I rarely see golfers playing by themselves while on the course.

Thanks,

Unless you get out there really early or really late, starters usually will pair you with a group.

I show up at around 6:15 in the morning to play.

Anyway, WELCOME TO THE FORUM OF TOMORROW!!!!

The sooner the better, just try to keep up with your group. If you notice that you are taking too long just pick your ball up and drop it around the green and hit some chips and practice your putting. If you have any par 3 courses around there start with one of those or just play a back or front 9. Bring lots of balls.

Also if you hit one club better than the others then use that more often off the tee.
