From Windemere, Florida ... Mister ...

Don't I wish - Westminster, CA really (10 miles from where he grew up).

I had my clubs stolen 6 weeks ago - out of my van in my driveway. Spent 2 weeks trying to find them by posting notices at all the local courses and driving ranges, hoping to see them (big white Ping cart bag) every day. Slowly realized that they were history.

Then a sometimes frustrating month on eBay, Craigslist, and visiting Roger Dunn stores to find out what I could buy to get me back to one of the few places where I feel connected - on the grass. With Christmas quickly approaching (single dad, 2 teenage girls), the budget was tight.

I came close to buying a nice Eye2 +no+ set but got plastered with 5 seconds to go. I was slowly learning. I eventually won a set of Eye2+'s BeCu (great deal from a funky little town in TX). They are arriving tomorrow. Cannot wait.

In the meantime, I had purchased a set of Eye2+'s that were "close" to my specs. Just enough to get me out playing without hurting me. And then there was that set of BeCu Eye2's 1-SW that had all numbers matching. I had discovered them while on Craigslist. I had learnt that they were a good thing to have, and the price was great. So I got them going for me.

Even though I have been playing for nearly forty years, I discovered I did not know much about the hardware. So I started learning using Google. So many of the searches brought me to this site, with differing opinions and topics, given by true addicts to, and lovers of, the game.

So here I am, still learning, and hoping to continue forward. I have found a deeper affection for golf and it's history. Even though most of the clubs I have accumulated (now 6 putters) will eventually be owned by someone else, it feels good to have a "collection" leaning up against my wall.

I'll put my 2 cents in where I can and be a good student. An avid listener other times.

At the moment I can answer questions on SoCal golf, New Zealand, kiwifruit, sheep, teenage girls (not), late 90s Dodge Caravan maintenance, web site design, and PC repair.

Stay posted.

Welcome to ST, we are all deeply saddened over your loss Kiwi. As was said already, sounds like you'll fit in well here. However, don't think your done buying clubs yet, oh no my new freind, you have just joined the fraternity of club ho'ing. So sit back, up the limit on your credit card, and enjoy the ride.

True, but I payed less than $200 for my stainless set. Wanted BeCu until I saw what they were going for. Knowing the way I Ho things, I like to keep my purchases on the cheap in the event I find the next world's greatest deal on an iron set and the current ones get relagated to the 7th back up bag.

Welcome, elkiwi. We can always use another PING-ifile here!

So let me get this straight, your clubs get swiped and you end up buying three replacement sets? Oh, you'll fit in here just fine!

As for your local, I grew up in Stanton and as a kid I spent many hours walking through the Westminster mall with my mom (god does she love to shop!). My family moved out to Palm Springs, CA when I was 12 and, with the exception of taking my kids to Disneyland, I haven't been back in 20+ yrs.
