Hi everyone Mark here.
I'm 43 well 44 next week, though I'm sure my birth certificate is wrong as I think I'm only 33. I live in West Yorkshire, England where I work as a police officer. I'm also a qualified FA football (soccer) coach.
I'm new to the great game of golf. Well I say new, but I did try the game around 15 years ago. At that time, I'd only seen golf on the TV and thought, "That looks easy", yes I know now, but watching golfers on TV hitting the ball and seeing it fly through the air and land near or even on the green, you must admit, before any of you tried it, it did look easy. Okay so maybe it was just me then.
Anyway, to cut a long story short (you really don't want the long version, do you?) I ended up throwing my club down the fairway after the ball. Well actually it went passed the ball by quite some distance. And that was it, I walked off vowing never to play the stupid game again.
Well here I am. And this time I'm dealing with it much better, and am really enjoying it.
I have been playing now for just over 6 months and am learning fast. Still trying to find a good and reasonably affordable Pro locally for lessons though.
So that's me then. Not an expert, not got a handicap yet and don't know which clubs to use for what shot (apart from the putter and sand wedge, obviously their names are a dead givaway) but am eager to learn and improve. |
