Thread: G'day from sunny Australia

  1. G'day from sunny Australia

Bloody hot and sunny here today and I hope all you Northerners are wrapped up and keeping your extremities covered!

I like the look of this forum and I hope I can make a contribution from time to time. About me .....

I'm about to take early retirement and devote myself to achieving a single figure handicap - something that has eluded me so far. I joined my club in 2001 as a 26 handicapper and I've been as low as 10.6 but just can't quite make it any lower. BUT - the lesson I had today and some days off to practice might just do the trick. Such is the world of illusion for the golf fanatic.

I have been a Director at my club for the last 5 years and I'm proud of what we have achieved. If by any chance you happen to find yourself in Canberra I would be very pleased to show you around our challenging course.

About time! I was starting to feel very Yanked, Canucked and Brit'ed out.

Hey Bluebone, fellow Aussie here. I'm located in Portland, but play in Port Fairy, both in the lower south-west corner of VIC. Only been to Canberra once back in '98 (and stayed in Fyshwick) for a school basketball tournament. Liked the place very much though and a closet Raiders supporter. If you're ever in VIC down this way I'd love to catch up for a round.

    Cheers
    Nick

    G'day Bluebone,

Good to see another Aussie around here. I'm located in sunny Brisvegas. I visited Canberra in September last year and managed 2 rounds at Federal golf course. Federal Golf Club : Canberra Australia Is that your home course??

Named after a ship that took refuge there from a storm in the early 1800's, nothing to do with the questionably deviant sexual ambiguity of sailors upon said ship.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

  12. TrueReview, my course is Yowani - on the north side of town. Quite similar in some respects - tight layout and heavily treed.

  14. Thanks Nick, I may very well take you up on that when I start exploring courses down in Vic a bit more. I've played most of the Mornington courses but haven't ventured further yet.

Yeah I had noticed you come aboard a while ago xam. Australia's active users has risen 400% in the last few months. Awesome! Watch out guys, we'll take over soon.

Mornington Peninsula is beautiful golf. Couple of nice links course around where I play if you enjoy them.
