Smile hi, everyone

hello , everyone. I am lysette. I used to be a lazy girl and stay home all the time. However, I had made up my mind that I would begin to join some kind of sports(I don't know exactly whether golf is a kind of sports in strict sense. But I believe so). Some friends and relatives of mine are playing golf and they suggest me play golf as the outdoors while I played yoga as indoor sports. Besides, I also love photography very much. Hope you guys can offer me suggestions in advance. I really hope that I can get all the rudiments as quick as possible. Thanks in the very beginning!

Yes golf is a sport. No Yoga is not a sport....its something people with way too much time on their hands do...

Glad you picked up the game, have fun with it!

Re: hi, everyone

I wouldn't call golf a sport. It's a good activity, though.

I just got a camera that can take 40 FPS still shots, and up to 1000 FPS video.

Re: hi, everyone

I would say golf is not an athletic activity, and does not require physical prowess. It's more like a board game, in my opinion. HUGE board. Racing, baseball, tennis, wrestling, and boxing all have an active defense- an entity that can act to hinder your performance. Things like bowling, and golf, in which there is really no active defense, just don't seem like "sports" to me.

I think golf is more difficult than virtually every sport, though. And not calling it a sport does not mean I respect it any less. It's my favorite thing to do. But the "professionals" in this sport can be significantly unhealthy and overweight, they all wear pants, have somebody carrying their bag while they WALK to their next shot...

Chess is more a sport than golf, I think.

Edit- Definition 3 encompasses basket weaving and napping as sports. Sweet!

Thats exactly what i was thinking! napping is probably the best sport ever.

Although i disagree that there is no defense in golf. Ultimately mother nature and the course designer are the defense in golf. They both actively attempt to make your score higher while you strive to make it lower.

Re: hi, everyone

ACTIVE defense. The kind of "defense" in golf is like the goal POSTS in hockey or soccer. They're just there. They don't do anything but exist. All of golf's "defense" is, at best, passive defense. But really it's not anything more than the wall in nascar.

Re: hi, everyone

Thread jacking certainly does have all the makings of a sport!

Clark, nature is not an active defense. Nature does not respond to your actions on a golf course. Wind blows or it doesn't, water exists or it doesn't, trees are there or they're not-- none of it depends on you or your golf ball.

Re: hi, everyone

I dont' consider it a sport either, more like a "game", like clayshooting, or Poker, but much more difficult than anything in life I have tried to do.

So, in your definition of "sport" how does that go wehn someone calles you a "sport"?

Re: hi, everyone

At that point, X, I usually strip down to my birthday-suit and run into the nearest heavily wooded area. Actually, that's my default, instinctful response to most situations... I don't think my ancestors were very bright.
