Welcome longshot....Mighty good form there too.

While we are well represented here with posters from Scotland, N. Ireland and Ireland - we've never had an Englishman come on and stay on..a few have signed on but have strayed away.

Hope you will give it a go...we need someone under the flag of St. George...

Thumbs up advice

Hi

Can anyone help with some advice?

I have been playing golf for about a year now and thinking about getting some new irons. I recently joined a club and have been playing 3-4 times a week. My average round is in the low 90's but I would like to see this drop to 80's by end of the year and I think I need some decent irons to help.

Can you recommend some sets that might be suitable? I have been looking at the Mizuno MX-23's and Taylor Made LT II's.

Figured I would introduce myself as well......

My name is Kevin Gallerie, 25 years old, live on the north shore of Massachusetts. I played golf only a few times before this year. To active in other sports, mainly volleyball. I played too much volleyball a couple years ago and damaged cartilage in my knee, and tore the labrum in my shoulder. About to have my 3rd surgery in 2 years. I started playing golf this summer and have played about 7 or 8 times. Getting more addicted every day. My efficiency at work has definately decreased since finding golf because I spend too much time looking at clubs and bags and courses to play.

Im really looking forward to improving my game so that my outings are a little less frustrating and i lose fewer balls, and my clubs arent in danger of flying into the ponds. Right now I would say I am between a 20-30 handicapper which I dont think is too bad only playing 10 times in my life or so.

Before this year I really never understood people's addiction to golf. Now I think I understand it way too much.

Welcome Kevin!

The addiction comes from executing a great shot, even if it's only one per round.

You can shank them into the trees all day long then sink a 65 foot putt for par (or better) or chip up to within 2 feet of the pin....something.

It's like the carrot and stick thing.

My name is Daniel Tessier, Dan to my friends. I'm 37 and have been playing golf for about 6-7 years. My handicap, as calculated on Yahoo!, currently sits at 26, but I've been taking lessons and my swing is MUCH better now, so my goal is to get it below 20 by the end of the year.

Oh, and I live in the San Francisco bay area, San Jose to be precise, so I literally have until the end of the year to ger it done!

Yo. My name's Jay and I have a golfing addiction.

My dad introduced me to the game around 15 years ago I think. I played pretty sparingly in HS and college and then started playing a bit more when I moved to CO about 8 years ago. This season I've really started to appreciate the game even more, likely due to the group of guys I normally play with, and have made improvements in my game. I'm still looking to post that elusive under 100 round, but that's just a solid round of putting away. It will happen this year, dammit.

In my bag, GBBII 9* driver, Dunlop Magnitude 3w and 5w(leftovers from old set), Taylormade 200 irons, Nike 56* forged SW, Palm Springs POS putter.

I've started putting together all new stuff this year and still need a new putter and fairway woods.

Glad I finally found an active golf forum to kill some time with at work!

A bit on me

Hi everyone.
My first post here, I have lurked for a while. Work will probably like it even less now I can post. I like this board, nice, friendly, moderation is not overbearing, and no crawling, pissy little "congratulations on your 17th post" crap.
Anyhow, I live in Sydney and golf every couple of weeks. I have played for about the last seven years, on and off. I play anywhere from about 85 to a million.
Practice is a word I don't know, I've just started a new job and am studying my CPA so when I get a chance to hit a ball it is going to take place on the course, for better or (usually) worse.
I also am a pisces and like romance, candlelight and long walks on the beach.

Where abouts in Sydney do you play? I worked at Riverside Oaks for a couple of weeks when I was travelling around Oz and Asia after I graduated from Uni. Feck hard to believe that was 7 years ago!!

Riverside Oaks is a bit out of my way. I live in the southwest suburbs and play all over the place mainly at public and other 'cheap' courses. I play with a social club and we have a rota of about five courses depending on the year. Local course is Riverlands GC.
