INTRODUCTION

I held off doing this for personal reasons, but here it is.
49 years old. Married, 23 years, two daughters 20 and 17.

One year of college, took a Radio & TV Broadcast Course but never went into the industry. Cold have had a quaranteed job with CBC, but did not want to work with anything related to our Canadian government!

Currently employed at Ford Motor Company in an assembly plant here in Ontario. BTW if you get pulled over for speeding or any other violation that Crown Vic cruiser came from our plant. If it has a two tone paint job chances are 50/50 I had my hands on it. But don't blame me for your speeding habits!
I have worked for Ford for 26 years and have just over 4 years until I can retire.

I have golfed for 23 years, this will be #24 coming up. Started out with a set of even irons with aluminum shafts! It's a wonder I did not snap those shafts in half. Current handicap index is 5.7 (NO BS here, that's from 165 rounds of golf last summer, everyone put in the computer) Last summer I partnered up with an old friend of mine to win our Two Man Best Ball Handicap Tournament. I have a couple of other club event wins over the years. I also played in the All Canadian Coors Light Scramble one year with 3 other guys from my old 9 hole course. So I have been around the block.

Now I have never golfed outside of Ontario or Canada, simply due to the fact I rarely travel. I would however love to play The Old Course someday, and that could happen once I retire.

Currently in my bag I have the following
TaylorMade Carry Bag (yeah I walk and carry most of my rounds)
Adams Redline Driver 10.5 Fujikuri 60G Reg shaft (Late addition in Dec 05)
3 & 5 wood, TaylorMade Supersteels with S90 Rifle Shafts. That 3 wood is GOLD to me.
TaylorMade 200 series irons 3-PW, 4 degrees up, DGS300 shafts.
RAC Black 52 degree wedge, Vokey Chrome 56 degree wedge.
Putters vary from a TaylorMade Rosa Monza or a TM Rose Indy Sport 1, both cut down to 33 inches in length (I bet most guys use a putter that is too long, you should try a shrorter one. I did and found it far better for being right over the ball. That is why I cut both those TM putters down)
Balls: Either Titleist NXT Tours or Dunlop Loco's, depends on the tempature.
Bite Golf shoes, you have not walked in comfort until you try a pair of BITE Shoes.
FootJoy Weather Soft glove. And a TOQUE EH!

3 Career Aces.

So that's about it, oh my home course is nothing special. But it is always windy on that course which makes it play like a different course everyday. This is the only course I have had to hit a 3 wood on the 2nd shot on a 448 yard par 4! Or how about a wedge from 175? Yeah it happens at my course. You either learn to hit knockdowns, high shots, draws or fades or you won't score well at THE TRAILS.

Thank You for your time.
Rick

Hey GB, cool stuff. Strange combination of shafts - Stiff rifles in your f/w woods and reg (relatively light) graphite in your driver? Have you hit the driver much yet? Have you noticed much dispersion compared to the fairway woods?

I agree on the Bite shoes, very comfy, although I got a pair of Footjoys for x-mas that I've been wearing lately for the treks through the mud and I must say...it's a pretty close competition.

It's funny, I have a longer putter...35", but find the shorter putters very uncomfortable...but get this - I grip down on the 35. I would rather grip down on the longer putter than grip in the usual spot on the shorter one.

Very strange.

I haven’t been on this board for a few months, but I occasionally check in to see how things are going. Work has been really busy for the last couple of months, which obviously cuts into my internet time. (Since I do this just about exclusively at work )

I’m 29 and I live north of San Diego in Carlsbad, CA. If any of you watched the Accenture Match Play – there were a bunch of meatheads heckling DiMarco on Saturday from a nearby balcony over the 7th fairway (I think it got mentioned by Judy on the air). I live on the other side of the street from those meatheads.

Since I’m wasting time at work – I’ll do this executive summary style:

Personal:

- I grew up in East TN – right outside of Knoxville.
- I work for an HR/Benefits consulting firm.
- I’m engaged – getting married in June. (any advice?)
- I played basketball in college
- I’m 6’6” – and 220 lbs (That’s 1.98 M and 100 Kilos for our
international friends)
- My lower back is a train wreck
- I’m an Ivy League Grad

Golf:

Been playing for about 5 years
- 17 hdcp
- I’m a fairly good athlete, out of shape though.
- I’m a club HOOOOO
- I’ve started taking lessons and it’s really helped. Best golf $$ I ever spent.
- I recently learned to shape shots with a little bit of consistency – its completely changed my game. I see the entire game differently now – very cool.
- I honestly think that I’m really close to blowing up my handicap – short game needs work though.
- I’m having a running philosophical debate with myself on straight back and through vs. barn door. Nobody is winning. Actually, I may start a thread on this one…….
- My clubs as of this morning are:
o TM R580 XD 9.5 deg – stock stiff
o TM R580 3 wood – stock stiff
o Ben Hogan hybrid – 4 and 5 Iron
o TM 200 Irons 6-PW
o Ping Tour Wedges – 52 and 58 deg.
o Ping Piper H Putter (new - haven’t played a round with it yet)
o Pro V1s until my Xmas supply runs out, then I downgrade to Strata.

That’s about it fellas, I should probably get back to work anyway. Have a good one!

Mallard,

Good to have you back. I've missed your wisdom and humour.

Look forward to having you contribute to the board.

As a side note, Dave is still here. I'm really sorry, i've been doing my best to get him outta here, he's such a jerk!

Cheers,

R35

Hello, I'm a relatively new member here, but have been lurking for a few months. I'm 33 and live in Virginia, I'm an alumnus of the University of Virginia (undergrad) and Virginia Tech (grad school). I've been playing golf for the past 5 years, handicap is 12. Work had me traveling internationally (Europe/Asia) quite a bit over the last 9 years, but that has calmed down somewhat.

My wife has just taken up the game and will probably be a tremendous golfer in no time. We've just joined a club and hope to improve our games together.

In the bag -

TM 540 XD
Cally Steelhead 3 and 5 woods
Mizuno MX 23 - 3-PW
Titleist Vokey 56 and 60
Bettinardi putter

Other interests - tennis, antiques cars (Porsche restores in particular).

Hopefully, as my golf knowledge grows I can be a worthy contributor to the forum.

Welcome Snug.

Hey, another MX-23 player. That's makes at least 3 of us. We're taking over.

Oh, you don't have to know much to contribute, I'm living proof.

Well, I have been trying to find a message board to talk some golf, and I stumbled onto this one by searching at ezboards. It is a very sharp website for sure, and I hope to talk some PGA with everyone, as well as get some tips on my own golf game.
