Smile Introduce yourself here

Hello all!

This thread is for everyone to introduce themselves. You can talk as little, or as much as you want about yourself. You can even attach your photo, provided it's not too ugly (joking )...

So to start things off...

I'm 30 years of age, and live in Montreal, QC in Canada. Here, the winter is pretty long, so that's a 4-5 months without golf.
I'm an avid golfer, started about 4 years ago.
I love golf because of the outdoor, the challenge, the fun... and who can forget the beer?
My handicap gradually lowered year after year, and last season it was at 14. This offseason, I completely revamped my swing, and it is more consistent.
On the equipment side, I play with muscleback blade irons, I just love them. For the driver, I made a custom one from different components.

I also play a lot of badminton, which requires a lot of stamina, speed and acceleration. But it keeps you very fit.

Hi. My name is Neal, and i have a problem(whoops, wrong place)
I'm 16 years old, and addicted to golf
I live in Brooklyn, CT and work in the pro shop and hold a membership at Brooklyn Country Club
I started playing golf at 14, and this will be my third year of this sport
I love golf because......well......i have some talent at it and it's enjoyable for me, can't really explain why
My handicap is at a 10.3, down from a 24 this July, and i hope to be below 5 this year
Equipment.....i love it. I'm a club ho. I buy clubs by the bunches. Currently i have a set of Mizuno blades, a set of Nike blades, and just bought a set of TaylorMade 300 forged CB's
I am very competitive, an above average athlete, but golf is the only sport i've been able to dedicate myself to. I am also an avid bowler.

That's all folks

Hi Loop, welcome to the board!

I'm 26, and live in Vancouver, BC in Canada. The winter here is almost non-existent (usually about 2 weeks of snow/year) and we've had something like 140 hours of sun this February so far. I've only played about 5 rounds this month though, so I'm sure you'll feel sorry for me.

I'm an avid golfer as well, and I started a little less than 3 years ago. For the first year, I played mostly pitch and putt and other short courses, and the second year was spent mostly in Europe without my clubs, so I didn't get to play much, so last year was really the year that kicked it all into gear. My handicap dropped about 20 strokes last year (from somewhere around 35 to about 24) and I've been working on my swing over the "off-season" and hope to kick things up a notch once I get this all figured out (had a bit of a breakthrough tonight so that might help).

I play with Mizuno MX23s and love them, although I've only had them for a few months and have only played about 10 or so rounds with them, I think they're really going to help me get the scores down come summer. I have a Cleveland Launcher 460 that I just threw a Grafalloy Blue (stiff) into, but I'm afraid it might be too stiff. It still feels way better than the stock shaft though. I'm using some cheapo Wilson Harmonized wedges (52, 55, and 60), a Powerbilt TPS 180 15* 3 wood, an Adams Ovation 21* 7 Wood (not right now though, but I did for most of last season), and a Nickent Genex 3DX 23* 4 Hybrid. I've just traded up from a Wilson Deep Red Fluid Feel #1 putter to a Odyssey White Steel 2-Ball Blade (kept the DR though for when I don't want to hit a mallet).

I, also, love to play badminton (haven't had a lot of time lately though), as well as soccer and ball hockey when intramurals allow. Strangely enough, I'm still a chubby fella, but that's probably a dietary problem.

I like to take pictures where I play, so you can find a few of my local courses in the Pictures section, and I'll be adding more soon, I promise!

Hey, I am just registered earlier today. My name is Jason MacIsaac, I am 19 years old and play to a 2.5 handicap. I live in Donkin, Nova Scotia Canada. Now the part many like to hear, whats in the bag:

Titleist 983E 8.5 degree driver with Graffaloy Prolite stiff shaft.
Titliest PT15 Bore 3 wood, this has 2 stripes and is bore through model.
Mizuno MP-14 1 iron
Cleveland TA1 irons 2 iron to PW
Cleveland Tour Action 53 degree gap wedge
MacGregor Tourney 56 degree sand wedge
Odyssey Dual Force 660 putter, bronze blade, 34" long
Pro V1X or Precept extra spin

I will try to post a video of my swing sometime in the future.

I have 115-120 clubhead speed. I am a strong iron player but have trouble controling the ball off the tee. I have had problems with putting in the past but when I get hot with the flat stick I usually shoot in the 60's.

Any other questions?

Well I would deffently consider myself a new member so here is a little bit about me. My name is Will and I am 13 years old. I am going onto my 3rd year of golf and I am addicted to it. Last year I went about 80 times and this year I plan to go around 100 times this year. Ummmm.. I dont really have much to say. My clubs are just a cheap set from a store around here that just closed. But they are my clubs. I am a junior member at Fox Hill Golf

I would post a picture of my swing but it is the middle of winter and there is about a foot of snow on the ground.

Well thats about all. Oh Yea this forum is awesome I have been looking for a good golf forum for a while and couldnt find one then I stumbled upon this one yesterday.

Welcome to the board Jason.

I don't have any doubt you're a good iron player, considering you're using that old MP-14 1 blade iron. Not many can use this club proficiently.
Glad, there is another canuck among us who can really shoot low.

The 1 iron is not hard to hit and when you do hit it well the Ball Trajectory is perfect and the ball goes 250-260 off the tee easy.

Welcome here Caddyshackgolf.
Is that Fox Hill Golf in New York state? I made a little search on the net.

It looks like a really nice course.

I am 50 years old and have been playing golf since I was 11.

I play approximately once a week - played 45 rounds last year. Am a member at a club. The tees I usually play give the course a length of 6350 and a Slope of 135.

My current index is 8.3. My lowest round is 73. My most common score is around an 80 in the summer and an 83-84 in the winter.

I am married with two children. I (along with other investors) have a software company that provides systems to law enforcement agencies, although I have no background in the field.

I do not change out my equipment very often.

* Titleist DCI Irons - 9 years old
* T-line putter - 16 years old
* Wilson Harmonized Sand Wedge 60* 12 bounce - 8 yo
* TM R540 Driver - 1 yo - OEM shaft (R)
* Sonartec SS-03 14/19 Fairway metals - Penley R shaft - 1 year old
* TM Rescue Mid 22 - Aldlila NV Hybrid shaft - new
* Cleveland 54* Gap wedge with 8* bounce - 5 yo

I believe that lessons and practice improve your game more than equipment.

I play in two groups on a regular basis. I get to play either on Sunday morning or Saturday morning.

My Saturday group is a bunch of guys in their late 30's early 40's who walk and play a Dogfight/Stableford. It's you against the field in a $10 bet.

My Sunday group is a bunch of guys in their mid to late 50's who ride in carts, smoke cigars and play a bunch of team bets. They are more fun.

I have a trip to Scotland planned in June. I am still uncertain if I will be able to go because of business issues. I hope to be able to confirm my trip in the next 4-5 weeks or so.

I am an alumnus of the University of Alabama. I follow Alabama football and basketball closely. My other hobbies include music. I have a large collection and a fairly decent music system throughout my house which I wired recently with Ethernet cable.

I love golf boards as they are a fun social outlet. I hope we can get much international participation here at Shot Talk.

I'm 5'10, like long walks on the beach and picnics....

Nah, just kidding. I'm 27 years old, from central Canada. I play as much as I can, including in my basement over the winter!

This past summer I was playing to about a 4 handicap. I've really put time into my game over the last 3 years. I've been playing since I was about 4, so this would be my 23rd year. I've been 'caring' about my game for only about 5 years, before that it was all recreational. I still like to have fun and play with guys of all handicap levels and have a helluva time doing it.

I'm the resident Callaway pusher as well. I really think they make great game improvement clubs for all ages and swing types.

I'm also a recovering club ho. I haven't bought a club in over a year. I'm shaking, but it's true.

I hope to hear more about everyone's game and look forward to reading everything that you can offer to the new site.

Sling has also graciously made me a Moderator for the forum. So if you bad mouth me or my equipment, I'll cut you down at the knees. Ha!

As you can see, I'm also a smart-ass (along with many of us here, so get ready for sarcasm at it's finest!)

Cheers everyone (except Dave),

R35

Up yours jackmod.

I'll be 51 this month and have played off and on for about 20 years.

I decided to take the game a little more seriously about 3 years ago and took a series of lessons. This helped more than all the clubs I've bought over the last few years.

I'm a bit of a ho. I'm on my third set of irons in three years, currently playing Mizuno MX-23s. This last change had more to do with swing changes than anything and should be the last iron change for a while.

I've only played with three putters ever and still have all three.

I play more often now that my daughters are grown and out of the house. When they were in school much of our time was spent following them to cross country, basketball and track events.

I live in central Texas so I play year-round. We get occasional spurts of winter but nothing longer than a few days. Average temp in Jan. & Feb. is in the 60s F.

I've enjoyed the couple of golf forums that I particpate in and like everyone here except Rockford. Seriously, stay away from this guy.

The Master also dabbles in the origins of dialect and the history of language.

As you can see, he's created his own. If you squint hard enough, it sorta resembles English.
