Wink Back at it

Hey guys and girls. I am back at the game after a year fustration hiatus. Struggling after the break but love every thing about the game that I loved before and more. What do they say about absence making the heart grow fonder.

I would like to shoot in the high 80's to low 90's on a regular basis. Right now 105 to 110 way to often. I hit some good golf shots but just cant string a lot of them together. I did shoot a 94 about a month ago but it has been all downhill since.

IMO the key to my swing is rythym. I am thinking about tring a count off like dancing as my swing thought. Ahh who knows. I also need to work on staying down through the swing. any tips would be apprciated. I am going to play 9 today and tomarrow in prep for 36 on friday. I also plan on hitting balls for lunch tomarrow. If you have anything to help make the next few days step in the right direction let me know. Yes lessons are in my future

Glad to be here.

Hi Pal
The surest way of hitting good shots consistantly is to develope a sound pre-shot routine. We are creatures of habit and respond to repitition.
Here is an example of my pre-shot routine.

Stand a few yards behind the ball with your chosen club in hand and take a mental picture of your target.I like to take a couple of gentle half swings at this point , just to get a feel for my natural tempo.
Try to visualise the ball flight of the shot you are about to hit.
Walk to your ball and position yourself so are parallel to the target line.
Place the clubhead behind the ball so that it is square to your target.
Now take your posture and pay attention to grip,
ball position and alignment.Look to the target and gently shuffle your feet ( i like to keep constantly moving ), relax your arms and take a couple of waggles.
Take one last look at the target and try to sense the shot.look back to the ball, exhale ( helps you to relax ) and think of your swing key ( my swing key is: i try to anticipate my follow through ) .
Pull the trigger and swing.
incorporate a pre-shot routine into your practice sessions . repeat over and over until it becomes instinctive.
You can use this one or a modified version but you must use a pre-shot routine if you want to make more consistantly good shots .

Regards.
Terry
