Shows how much I was paying attention. I didn't look close enough at the Avatar to distinguish.

They do seem to be getting some good, young talent. Hopefully it is a sign of things to come. Having been a Caps fan even prior to the days when they were talking about moving the franchise and establishing the interesting trade techniques in picking up Langway, I can live with the last few years. Just seems like between the Caps, Redskins, and Wizards I have had a few down years when it comes to sports. Although all three now have some promise, and it was actually the Caps show just as much promise and was the last to play for the championship in their respective sports. Had you told me that would be the case around 25 years ago, you would have been laughed out of Washington.

It is that time of year when although the Golf game is starting to simmer down, my second favorite hobby in watching sports is just starting to warm up.

If you want to pay for them, sure. Unfortunately we only get two freebies per game and they are for the GM to use. Caps-Pens has to be one of the most exciting matchups in the game.

Certainly one of the most exciting I've watched, although the Caps and Flyers are pretty nice up in this area. I distinctly remember two of the best games I ever watched (but on TV), which happened to also be two of the longest games in NHL history. Unfortunately the Caps lost on both occasions, one on a wrist shot by Nedved for the Pengs that put a stake through my heart, and the other by LaFontaine with the Isles. Not real great having to go straight from watching your team lose a game like that, to having to shower to go back to work.

edit 1 - ... are you saying McPhee wouldn't be willing to give up his tickets next to Lemieux for Sandpiper?

What's the NHL? I don't follow the game at all (or understand it).

yup thats him some of the best hands at the time.a true sniper that could have put up a pile of points.but they wanted him to focus more on defense.

i thought that guy would lead us back to the promise land.

COOOOOOL job - you win the prize for the coolest (pardun the pun) job on ST. My wife and I caught a game at the Verizon Center last year when we were in DC. Gorgeous facility, and in a great spot. We walked there from the hotel, we couldn't belive how easy it was - walk up to the gate on gamenight and presto 2 tickets anywhere we wanted. Not possible at any of the venues in Canada.

Hopefully that can be changed this year. The market in D.C. is tough and they love to support winners. If you look at the great teams in the NHL they had a long down cycle. The best way to acquire assets is by picking high in the Draft.

Colorado, as Quebec, finished last three straight times (and got Sakic in another draft), Detroit was bad for a long time, New Jersey missed the playoffs something like 15 out of 16 years, etc... . No team has ever won the Cup without at least one player (and most had more than one) picked in the Top 5 overall picks of the draft, since the modern draft got going in the mid-70s.

Cross your fingers for us.
