Just shows that the dollar speaks almighty. Abramovich was pissed that all they got out of last year was a Carling Cup (which they nearly didn't get) and the FA cup (which also could just as easily been Man U's with Giggs' not given goal). Of the four big trophies, he wanted the other two. Missing the League and Champions League trophies, and a poor start to this year = no more manager.

I think this year is gonna be the toughest Premiership to date with teams like Blackburn, City, Villa, Newcastle, Boro & West Ham taking points from the big boys. i've been most impressed by Liverpool so far and if they had Ferguson, wenger or mouriniho managing there squad they'd be sitting pretty at the top right now. Why you rest your new striker for league games and then play him in the crappy cup is beyond me?
Still I think we (United) will win the league again this season. We've started the season with a lot of key players missing games through injury or suspension but have still got on a good run of late after our worse ever start to a Premier league season and were 2nd already with the likes of Rooney, Saha & Ronaldo coming back, Tevez getting mach fit and we've still got Hargreaves & Neville to come back in. |
Last year with a worse team we only dropped points (to the big three) to Liverpool in the PL. And beaten the pants off them in the Carling and FA cup previously. Our problem was complacency against the small sides (Boro, Man City, Bolton, Fulham, West Ham, Portsmouth and SHEFFIELD UTD fer fecks sake!!!

)
And of course, the teams reliance on one man. Henry leaving was almost the best thing to happen to the club (which I say with all respect for the man).
This year the young guys want to win everything in sight, and blow the critics away. And have done so fantastically.
Not sure what the ploy is with Eduardo either, but if anyone knows, it's Wenger. Can't argue with results so far. I think he's struggling a little to adjust to the PL's pace of play though. He'll get better and be there later.
Now that you mention it, how did Benitez keep his job all through all those years? They had to be the most underachieving team in EPL history until they won the Champions League.
At least no-one disagreed about Cesc Fabregas....
