EPL thread

Hmmm couldnt find any english premier league thread. Thought i might start one myself!

At the moment i think only Arsenal and Man united are gunning it. Arsenal might have the upper edge atm, but i still think United are gelling together and in first gear. Im sure they would play better and challange all 3 fronts this year!

Not a huge amount of EPL supporters on this board. There are a few devoted ones though. I'm hardcore Arsenal and I know that Dannykos and EnglishGolfer are Liverpool, MG and Adam Pettman are Man U. There are actually a few Liverpool and Man U fans out there (not many Chelsea hehe ). They should chime in after I complete this statement:

Arsenal FC is the greatest football club in the world.....

I won't say anything apart from the fact that I'm quietly confident we'll be victorious...

I'm a huge united fan, I think that soon aresnal will run into some injuries and their thin squad will be exposed.

Yes, I am from the west side of the pond, but I still follow EPL on Fox Soccer Channel when I can. Man U is going to take it this year. They have not been fully healthy this year and they are really starting to get the goals compared to their 1-0 streak they had a while back. Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo are as a formidable threesome up front as you will find anywhere in Football/Soccer (only possible expeception would be Barcelona in the Spanish league with Messi, Ronaldihno, and Henry.)

Liverpool had a poor CL match the other day. I do not see them competing for the EPL title.

Arsenal is strong this year. I am not as familiar with their squad as I am with Man U and Chelsea, but they seem undefeatable at the moment.

I enjoy watching Chelsea play. I am not a Chelsea hater as I enjoy watching the talent they put on the field play. I am becoming more of a Joe Cole fan everyday. A gritty little guy who always seems to be grinding it out along the sidelines trying to set up a scoring drive. I still do not quite understand the whole ordeal with the removal of the coach, but the team does appear to be getting closer to the performance level they once enjoyed after a few bad games with the new coach.

My favorite team to watch is Fulham when they are on the TV. 4 Americans on the roster and my favoite US footballer, Dempsey. I really like the way the EPL has toughened him up and he has become a better competitor on the international stage. Just ask John Terry how hard Dempsey is playing these days.

Another Yank here..... I've been supporting Liverpool for more than 10 years now, and the family dog is named after my favorite footballer of all time. His name is FOWLER.

And Liverpool are complete shit lately. Benitez is having team selection problems, Sami Hyypia is being brutally exposed in Daniel Agger's abscence, Momo Sissoko is NOT the next Patrick Viera (more like the next Salif Diao if you ask me) and well, United and Aresenal are head and shoulders above EVERYONE else.

Stevie G is playing in the center of the park, and is has FAR too many defensive responsibilities due to Sissoko's ineptitude and Alonzos' head lodged firmly where it does not belong. LFC will continue to be crap until Gerrard is sent back out to the right and is given a "free role" again from that position, knowing Finnan will clean up any messes he leaves about while popping up all over the place.

LFC were complete crap in the Champions League away to Besitkas on Tuesday.... so now we can concentrate fully on our annual 3rd place finish in the league....

I cannot guarantee if United or Arsenal will win the league, but I can guarantee you this....

I will NOT be sneaking away from work for 3 hour luches to watch LFC go deep in the Champions League this season.

Just to make you Brits jealous... ualtim and I get at LEAST five or six live EPL matches every weekend.... and a game or two midweek if there are any on the fixture list.

Add in the Champions League, UEFA Cup, Euro Qualifiers, etc......

I've been told that there is more live English footy on TV in the USA than in the UK?

But I suppose your ability to stand on the Kop, visit the spendor that is the Emirates Stadium, or eat a prawn sandwich whenever you visit Manchester might be better than my full slate of televised games...

Yep, we get all that here in AUS too, especially the EPL if you have Pay TV. And I do...

There are more live Premiership games than are available on domestic TV in the UK, but not more football. Remember that in the UK they also show games from the Nationwide leagues and also the higher end of non-league on the TV. On FSC we get 3 live games a weekend plus a couple of delayed coverage matches, whereas in the UK they'll get a Championship game or two, a game from the Nationwide League, several FA Cup games, League Cup games and lots of European games when the British clubs are involved. And they'll show a few SPL games too.

And don't forget that there are over 100 professional football teams in the UK too, so plenty of fans will not only get all these games on TV but be able to go and see a couple of games live a week too. When I was at my height of footie fandom (which was while I was working in non-league and doing a lot of scouting for league and non-league clubs) I would regularly catch 4 games in person a week, sometimes more...

Chelsea put a hurting on Man City today. Looks like Chelsea is out of their funk and ready to compete again. Drogba is scoring goals left and right and Lampard seems more than happy to keep feeding him. They may contend for the EPL title yet.

Yeah, what was up with that????
That's certainly not the same Man City side that was sitting third on the table. They had no real heart, passion or fire. Looks like Man U got a couple of lucky goals against Boro but deserved the win anyway.

And a final note. Go Arsenal in 21 hours time!!!!

I wish I would be home from work, but I am going to miss the Gunner's game on TV. Hopefully, FSC will replay it later in the week. It should be a good one.

I won't be watching the Arsenal match, but I can't wait for the Liverpool match!!!!

I'm sensing a season "make or break" 90 for the Pool. I know it's still early... but we have been awful lately.

I'll predict 2-1 to the Reds... a brace from Stevie G.

Portmouth v West Ham are on right now.... on a completely unrelated side-note, why in the he11 are they called "Pompey?"

the mighty reds will march onwards - i predict a 2-1 to the pool. Let's be honest - the gooners aren't really all that - and haven't really had a tough game yet.

To all you other reds out there - take heart from the fact that we're right up there in the table, and have played like poop for most of the season

in rafa we trust. ynwa.
