Make sure you get the creamed corn.
I'm not kidding. |

Oh my, funny you should mention Rudy's. The BBQ aficionados that we are, I have already put the 3 San Antonio Licensee stores into my GPS about 2 weeks ago when we found we would be going, which are a little closer than the one in New Braunfels.
Rudy's "Country Store" & Bar-B-Q - Locations
Being as KC BBQ has always been one of our favorite foods, and that Memphis, NC, Texas, and KC are the most renowned Mecca's for real BBQ, we have vowed to try and visit most of the top places when given the chance.
They had a show a few years back called Food Wars - BBQ that they broadcast on the food channel every now and then, that I recorded off and saved. Unfortunately KC did not fair as well as I would have expected, but it may have something to do with the fact that they used KC Masterpiece along side Bryants, and while Masterpiece is one of the most commercialized sauces, it is a far stretch from the best in KC. It would actually not even be in the top half of my top 10. I had remembered one being in San Antonio so I pulled it out and watched it to get the name. I believe it is the original Rudy's and is the one in Leon Springs just north of San Antonio, so in the time we are down there we will likely be alternating between BBQ at Rudy's and good Mexican food. Which is our other favorite and is hard to find authentic in this area. The name of the guy who runs the place is Doc Holiday. How fitting. He was the one who tagged it the worst BBQ in Texas.
Although I doubt I would have tried the Creamed Corn, I will be sure to give it a shot.
