Ontario Fish Story - Shot Talk

FYI: This Sturgeon is Still alive, just worn out from the fight. They turned him loose after the photo.ATT000011.jpg

This Sturgeon was caught at TWO CREEKS CONSERVATION AREA, Wheatley, ON (at Lake Erie) 11/19/2007

It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1'. It was 56' around the girth and took over 6 and a half hours, and 4 dozen beers, for the 4 guys taking turns at the reeling it in.

Any Sturgeon OVER five feet has to be released unharmed and cannot be removed from the water.

They are brood/breeding stock and probably older than most of us.

I'm sorry but I gotta throw the BS flag at this one. There is no way 4 guys would fight a fish for 6 1/2 hrs on only drink 2 cases of beer. They're Canadians!

Without a doubt, I would crap myself if I came across this fish while out swimming/skiing or whatever else you do out on that lake. That is just nuts!

We caught a Sturgeon once while shrimping in South Carolina. It was about five feet long and unfortunately had died during the trawl. We decided to cook it and see what it tasted like. Let me tell you, that was some mighty fine tasting fish. Surprised the heck out of me.
