How did your team do in NFL draft??

Just wondering from the fan's point of view.

I follow Green Bay. I liked their overall draft. I think Nelson will be very good wide out for them. Good choice for QB in Brohm. The TE from Texas looks lke a project but may pan out. The negative is no RB drafted to back up Grant.
They've given Beaver (Division 3 player of the year from Whitewater) a rookie tryout but otherwise no major new blood added. Beaver may be a real "sleeper" He is short but he put up some impressive "speed" numbers at combines. If he has good football instincts he may well fit into the Packer zone blocking running scheme.

Team that makes me nervous this year is Minnesota. They now have some real studs on the D line. They will hold many teams under 100 yards on the ground this year. Reminds me of the Bears D line 2 years ago. Their offense also reminds me of the Bears last year. Booty is not their franchise QB.

I thought the Redskins made a great deal in being able to trade their 1st and 4th for two seconds and basically getting who they wanted in the process with 2 of the better WR's and another TE. I don't really know much about their 3rd and 4th rounders but they seem to fill backup slots they need or lost.

Being able to pick up the punter Brooks and Colt Brennan (QB-Hawaii), seem like steals and likely the best picks you could expect in the 6th round. I expect Brooks will be a starter for a long time to come, and Brennan will certainly be nice to have around and seems more than capable as a backup to Campbell in the future, considering Todd Collins is not getting any younger. Not to say that he (Collins) may not have a chance at starting this season after his performance last year.

They will possibly be hurting or looking for people to help out the Defensive Line. They also signed 13 undrafted rookies on Monday, including Santana Dotson's son out of OU.

On a side note, Kansas had four players drafted. Which is the first time someone from KU was drafted since '05. Talib went with the 20th pick in the first round, he is the first to go in the first round since Dana Stubblefield in '93 and the highest KU pick since '81

Raiders got probably the best offensive player in the draft, and a decent DB prospect... The other picks had great combine numbers... WHo knows. The Raiders seem to do OK after the 3rd round with picks, its their top 10 picks that have been lacking lately, maybe McFadden changes this.

That just baffles me because they just signed Fargas to 3 year $12million deal. Seems they could have spent that money more wisely than for a guy that may only start a couple games now. Actually, I'm not sure the wiser move would not have been to go with Fargus who has showed alot of potential. Then spend their pick on one of the many Defensive lineman that went shortly afterwards. Who knows what Al Davis is thinking though.

What baffles me even more is that Detroit waited until the 5th round to draft a WR.

I am a huge Vikes fan so needless to say I am quite happy with the moves they have made this year. Allen is a risk, but they now they have the best d-line in football. If they get decent play out of Jackson they will be a playoff team, but it is all on his shoulders now. I like the pickup they made at safey in the 2nd round, they got the heir apparent to sharper now. I think it will be the Vikes and Packers duking it out for the division crown, I hate to say it but GB is a very young solid team that was built to be around for a long time. I see those two right up there competing in the wide-open NFC.

For those who think Booty will be the franchise QB, they are nuts. He went in the fifth round for a reason. Jackson was solid down the stretch so maybe if he can just manage the game and keep TO's to a minimum, the D and the running game can pull them through some tough games.

In the NFL, contracts often announced with inflated numbers, so I dont know what Fargas will really earn in 3 years, or if the Raiders will just cut him after 2 years and ignore the balloon final payment.... I dont have clue outside knowing that 6 mil is garaunteed for 08. I just rememer Steve McNair signing a contract that was HUGE... but the details show that there was like a 50 million dollar roster bonus for one year... and I think he didnt get it.

Anyways.. Raiders dont have anyone close to the explosiveness of McFadden, but they are kinda deep at Defensive tackle, and thin at Defensive End. They basically need more pass rushers... which boils down to Gholston. Between McFadden and Gholston, the smarter move is McFadden since there is a better chance of him contributing as a rookie, whereas Gholston seems like he could take a couple years to get goin... Also the Raiders traded a 2nd rounder for DeAngelo Hall, which is a good deal based on talent... I think he will play well. All of this said, Raiders will be lucky to win 7 games next year.

I'm pleased with the Dolphins picks, they have been so horrible for a number of years in the draft that just about anything would have been a huge improvement.

1 31 Phillips, K. FS Miami (Fla.) 2 63 Thomas, T. CB Southern California 3 95 Manningham, M. WR Michigan 4 123 Kehl, B. OLB Brigham Young 5 165 Goff, J. ILB Vanderbilt 6 198 Woodson, A. QB Kentucky 6 199 Henderson, R. DE Southern Mississippi
These are the Giants picks. The first 4 were needs.I think the first 2 will be contributers this yr. Phillips may be the starter this yr. Thomas should atleast play in the nickel.Manningham should see some time and possibly be a solid 3 or 4 this yr.

They graded out as an A on cbssportsline. so i am pretty happy with the draft.they didnt draft positions that the players dont have a chance of atleast seeing some time except QB.

I like all the big Offensive line men the Bears picked up. I was kinda wishing they would draft a QB........I guess its Rex for one more year

I agree. I do not comprehend how Chicago can continue their QB fiasco. They have not had a quality QB since McMahon. And before that a long dry spell also. It is a shame when one considers the high quality defense and running backs they seem to always have. I guess it's the Bronko Nugarsky--Dick Butkus--Bill Wade, Cade McNowen syndrome.

McMahon wasn't all that great of a quarterback, great team leader sure but his numbers were nothing outstanding. Sure he may be the best one Chicago ever had but that's not saying much.

True--Only great by "Bears" standards. If you want to look at their truly great QB IMHO it would be Sid Luckman in the 1940's.

I'm a Bears fan thru the thick and thin, die hard,.....but even I can say McMahon wasnt great,....just ok at what he did. Rex "could" be great,....but I dont think he's smart enough to be great.

Bears need a QB philosophy similar to the Wisconsin Badgers. Do no harm. A steady eddie who knows his capabilities and limitations.Kinda of the opposite of Brett Favre.

BTW Brewers got little payback at the friendly confines today with 9th inning comeback. It's going to be an interesting season.

The Colts picked up a couple more tight ends--options for Peyton and the offense. Both of which are said to be pretty good in the blocking/pass protection game. They picked up a running back--"slippery" was a word used to describe him. I think the Colts had to let another one go in the offseason for being an idiot. The most interesting thing I saw for the Colts--the picked 3 CENTERS--3??? Jeff Saturday getting ready for retirement? Does it take 3. . .maybe a long-snapper, etc, etc. Just found it interesting.
