Just an interesting thought every time I see this and has nothing to do with this weekend.

Does anyone else wonder why a coach only gets 2 challenges even if they are correct and the challenge leads to overturning a call?

I mean, you lose the challenge you are charged a timeout. Why should you be limited to 2 challenges if the calls are overturned.

Has always seemed logical to me that if you challenge a call and it is overturned, you would not lose that challenge. Kinda seems like saying that if an official makes 3 bad calls that could cost you the game you are just SOL and that is part of the game.

Probably goes back to time constraints in the NFL, which hss always been another interesting topic for me. They seem to do everything to shorten the game, when in actuality I would guess most fans do not view that as a positive option when paying $50 to God knows what to go to a game.

I wasn't aware of that, and had never seen mention of that part of the rule.

Edit 1 - doing a quick search I see that has been in place since 2004. Never saw that mentioned.

IMO, as you as you keep challenging and getting the call on the field overturned, you should be allowed as many challenges as you want.
I think they should give you 2 challenges per half, but if you challenge a call and get the call overturned, you shouldnt be charged a challenge.
Theres a lot of calls that are questionable, but coaches are hesitant to challenge them because they only get 2 challenges per half and want to save it for a more important play.

Not to mention it'd be an improptu time-out. I mean, call 3 challenges to see if things get better. If they don't, oh well, just a time I was going to call anyway, and if they do, I get an extra timeout free o charge and a favorable ruling.

I didn't about the buy two get one free rule change...

What I don't like are the bad calls that stand because they're are deemed "not reviewable" but this has more to do with whistle happy refs than the rule itself.
