Poor Sportsmanship

Not sure how many watch College Basketball, but I actually saw this on the web, and found it horrible.

Please note that Chase Budinger's face is not a doormat - The Dagger - NCAA Hoops - Rivals.com

I've taken a behavioral analysis course before and curiously enough, if you watch it around 26, you can see an attempt to disguise a deliberate move towards his face. The issue is, his lifting of his leg and change of pace shows that he understands the man's face is there, however, you see that leg abruptly come down without any provocation.

I'd say toss him for the season, not just the game.

But, but, but the NCAA is full of scholar-athletes. It's not a training ground for the NBA-T (National Basketball Association of Thugs.)

Why would this upstanding collegiate individual do something like this. Why?

Yup, dude clearly sees him there but then tries to play it off as he casually steps on his face. That ain't cool.

Was clearly intentional. Not sure he'll get tossed for the year, but am guessing it is going to be a long time, not that the entire year would surprise me. You get tossed for the year in the NCAA for a second fight, if Coleman has any history at all, he will likely be gone. I actually think the NCAA should first see what the coach does, who's initial reaction was this:

Here's Penders' response: "I'm just sorry the official interpreted it that way. The way I saw it, Aubrey got tangled and his momentum carried him forward and I think it was a mistake."

If he doesn't step up and take matters into his own hands after having a chance to review the video, the teammates Hi Fiving him afterwards, and then them blowing the lead and eventually losing the game in OT, then the NCAA should toss Coleman for the year and levy fines against Penders IMO.

Actually if the coach doesn't step up, I wouldn't be surprised to see the University step up to the plate.

That is about as bad as it gets, and could have easily resulted in a life changing injury, and what is even worse is that the reaction of the other players and coach makes it look as though they condone the behavior. Although I'm guessing Penders will do something after having a chance to review the video.

His apology even says it was unintentional and contradictory. Seems to me he is only apologizing to lesson the penalty.

Cougars: Cougar hoops: Coleman apologizes

What the heck happened to his neck?

Its a Keloid scar.

White can have it too but it is more prominant in blacks. Thats extreme though, i have never seen one that big.

I guess I'm getting older or something, because I find this truly offensive. I mean, I actually watch college ball and even the NBA, and its discouraging to me for one main reason...

What if my son or daughter want to play, and see this type of behavior? We have football players walking all over the NFL because the NFL has no spine, we have it in the college level like this, and its just the tip of the iceberg. I'm not saying these people have to be perfect, they can even show some poor behavior and I don't care much, but when it comes to sportsmanship, for a lot of people, its gone.

My perfect example is Tiger. He curses, gets fined, throws a club, but when it comes down to how he treats other athletes, for whatever reason, he is always respectful. That's what is most important to me, being a good sport, win or lose.
