et tu A-Rod

Well, I guess I honestly cannot say that I am shocked about it, but it appears A-Rod is, or at least at one time used to be on the juice:
A-Rod reportedly tested positive for steroids - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

It does kind of ruin the attitude that while steroid-user-extraordinaire Barry Bonds has the All-Time HR record, that A-Rod was cruising along a real good pace in just a few years would make it all okay by hitting at least 800 HRs. Now I guess it will just be one cheater surpassing another.

Who's going to be next? Greg Maddux? Tom Glavine? Albert Pujols? Is there anybody who is beyond suspicion anymore? I really enjoy baseball, but this modern "steroid era" really makes me want to just forget about it.

Finally, with all the natural-born talent that A-Rod has, and with all the millions he's making in salary and endorsements, he still felt compelled to cheat. This is why no one will be able to ever convince me that steroids and other performance-enhancers at least have the potential to rear their ugly heads in golf, too. Everyone has been at least tempted by the thought of using them, and there is no way that the PGA TOUR just happened to have the 200 most honest people in the world that every single one of them rejected the temptation. They are out there, though I will agree that they aren't as prevelant as in the other sports. But, it certianly isn't no one using.

Ban em all, strike their names from the record books. Go back to Maris, Aaron, etc.

Yeah, I would tend to agree with this statement. It's not fair to the players who did not use, but really the players that did not use-didn't break any records in the "steroid era" so whatever.

Honestly, I am at the point I can't even watch baseball anymore, or pro hoops. Football, I will watch although I am certain some of those guys are jacked up on something.

I still love to watch golf though, they may all be a bunch of robots but none of them have tested positive for anything...yet

I really think hockey players are juicing also. I don't remember Ovechkin or Malkin being as thick as they are now when they first came into the league... maybe they are "filling out" since they are really still just kids.

Yep, I think Washington should be investigated.

Seriously, I think a lot of that is exactly what you said...they're young when they start. Look at Brandon Sutter. NWIH he's stopped growing yet.

Bastards.

Actually I think alot of it may be the age they came in to the league. Still young enough that they maybe hadn't filled out yet. Professional Athletes are getting younger and younger. Kinda like Lebron, he looks like he's beefed up as well. I see this alot because I watch a lot of college Basketball, and Kansas tends to have a lot of young impact players for their team. When I saw the team the put on the court to start this year, they just looked so small in size (not height). It is one of the youngest teams in the NCAA. Then looking at it more, most of the players they lost the last two years were not even Seniors and had still grown a bit. The Seniors they have graduated usually look pretty beefed up at that point in comparison.

On the subject of Baseball, I simply have no respect any more. It used to be one of my favorite sports up until the Strike years ago, and I just don't watch it anymore. It is just blatantly obvious the players (and owners are not innocent either) are just in it for themselves and could give 2 craps about the fans. It truly is becoming Americas Pastime IMO. Sadly I don't even think of MLB as a sport anymore, and that is not being sarcastic.

We agree 100% on this, Pa. I spend exactly NONE of my time involved with baseball at any level. Fortunately, both of my sons dropped it a few years ago and do not want to go back. They both said it was too boring to play compared to soccer, basketball, and golf.

C'mon guys. Do you really think there are professional athletes out there who aren't juicing? If you think that, IMO, you're living with your head in the sand. Especially sports where power and speed are crucial. It is an accepted practice to juice. It's not all about getting huge thoug. It's more about recovery time nowadays.

It wouldn't surpise me if there were golfers caught juicing. Reason being they could work out and play golf and not have to worry about down time. Besides that, look how far they're hitting their damn irons. A 7 iron 200 yards?

Whatever the case may be, IMHO, if it's not affecting their health and it's drawing spectators, why not allow it?

Just a thought.

I just don't understand this statement. Have you ever seen medical support that Steroids do not negatively affect your health??? Everything I have ever seen is that it is in fact very detrimental to your health. So now you are faced with a situation by allowing a player to juice, you are forcing others to do so and risk his life for the sake of remaining competitive. To me that is not what competitive sports is about. I bargain to guess that I would refuse to support any sport that publicly supports the use of steroids for their player.

To me sports are a matter of skill and athletic ability achieved through hard work and dedication, not who is will to risk their life to succeed. With what you mention and if it is not detrimental to you health, why shouldn't you, me or the average joe juice if it is all about becoming better at any cost? For me it is because it simply would cheap the impact of what I accomplished. Just as I feel Bonds and A-Rod have cheapened the impact for what they have accomplished.

Ask Lyle Alzado...oh wait, he's dead.

I say, give them their own league...make the MLBR(MLB on roids) and keep the old MLB...

See which one draws more attention and money....not that its right, or that i agree with it, but the roided out MLB will probably win out on that deal.

Why? Because a line has to be drawn of what is okay and what isn't, and yes, steroids negatively affect your health.

Try and find it on TLC, big special on them and what they do to your body. Now its not just as plain as steroids do A and cause B. You get a lot of steroids do A, which causes B (not necessarily negative), but causes excess in things which cause a bad C. I.e. over-working out.

Re: et tu A-Rod

At least he admit it now.

His Couric interview will haunt him but the stories of "did he, didn't he" won't be discussed anymore and THOSE are the longest lasting ones.

This will forever haunt him no doubt but doing this now will save SOME sort of respect for him
