Well, it is looking better so far for the Skins. Resigned DeAngelo Hall to a 6 year deal, who finished strong with them last year after coming over from Oakland when he was cut, then cut Shawn Springs as a result. Was excited they may sign Derrick Dockery. Then completely caught me off guard and blew me out of the water that they signed Albert Haynesworth to a 7 year deal. They are just going to have a Monster Defense this year after starting last year losing 2 of their Defensive Linemen in the preseason and go for Jason Taylor to fill the gap only to have him face injury problems. Arguably I think Haynesworth is the best DT in the league, and I think he was one of the main reasons for the Titans success last year

Springs was injured most of the time, although they did also have to release Marcus Washington to make room.

Haynesworth is worth the money no matter what it is. They just became a legitimate contender. I wish the Packers would go after Peppers from Carolina now that they've switched to the 3-4, but they'll pass on him and draft someone who will sit on the bench for 3 years with injuries. I hate Thompson.

Has Haynesworth ever played a full season? $41 million signing bonus is insane. I bet that turns out like everything always does for the Redskins. It'll work for about seven games.

I wish the Pack would have signed Brian Dawkins for a couple years. Nice veteran. Samrt player. No way are they going to pay Peppers $30 to $40 million up front.

I agree that the money is insane and possibly a mistake, but if they can fit him under the cap and not lose too much, he will make them a lot closer to being a contender.

That on top of the fact that I believe he wanted to be the first $100 Million defensive player, and I wouldn't be real surprised to see him renegotiate his contract a couple years down the line to go for a goal of picking up talent and playing for a possible dynasty team.

I think what concerned me even much more than that is they gave DeAngelo Hall a contract with $22.5 guaranteed and $55 million overall. While he was fantastic to the end of last year, and you have to take anything involving Al Davis with a Bucket of salt, you still have some question on what you will get in return on that investment. But again, if they can keep it under the cap, they can sort it out down the line. The issue I see with Hall is when they start renegotiating contracts with the rest of their secondary that is just as good if not better, they are going to have a hard time justifying giving them less and not losing players. Laron Landry and Carlos Rodgers I believe both make less (only 1/2 I believe) , and unless Hall has a stellar season it is going to create a big problem next year when they would likely ask to renegotiate their deals. At least with Haynesworth, he is considered on of the best DT's in the league. Hall still has some work to prove he is even better than Landry or Rodgers. Even Fred Smoot is no slouch and if he were to have a better year than Hall, they are going to have really issues with not losing their entire secondary to holdouts next year.

IMHO, Haynesworth... overpaid!!! Averaged something like 3 1/2 sacks season. Had some personal issues. Lots of money. "Closet" Redskins fan since the Chiefs have been in the tank. Not thrilled about the Haynesworth deal.

Chiefs picking up Cassell and Vrabel could be the start of something good. Cassell looked pretty good filling in for Brady last year. Chiefs haven't got anything that resembles a quarterback. Violi remains untested as GM. Never even played football. Started out as a golf pro. Ended up as Bill Parcells son-in-law. With both Belicheck and Parcells as mentors, hopefully, he's the "next generation" of something grand. King Carl (Peterson) had been in KC far too long. The day they hired Herm Edwards was the last day I cheered for the Chiefs. Hopefully, we've got a team on the way back to Kansas City.

I could see Cassell spending the next 15 years in KC. He is a perfect fit in that offense IMO. After getting rid of Edwards, good things just keep happening in KC if they could just get a Defense that is even remotely similar to what they had 10 years ago. I will always have a fond place in my heart for the Chiefs, it has just hard to even watch them the last couple years. Looking forward to seeing them turn things around.

I am actually really surprised they did not make a big run to get Cowher back (or maybe they did), I would have thought he would have gone back to them.

There is one valuable asset coming out of Dallas and it isn't TO. Roy Williams requested to be released and was, that'd be a good pickup. Wonder if the Redskins could make a move on him since they cut loose Jason Taylor. He would be a pretty nice fit as they have a pretty good tandem to defend the pass, he would further help against the run.

Well, Kurt Warner used the 49ers as leverage, but somehow spun it and used religion in his reasoning. 49ers said it was a win-win situation after spending 10,000 to fly Warner into SF. meanwhile the 49ers sent a psychiatrist to interview that top rated college QB in preparation for the draft.. while other teams asked him football questions, 49er dude asked him about his parents divorce and concluded that he wasnt over it yet... and I thought the Raiders had bad front office.
