Well looks like the FIA have competely F'd themselves. I honestly think it's about time... I was getting tired of the FIA always interfering with the racing.

How'd that work out? Not to good, they both would have about 15 cars entered into an event. At least they finally came to their senses and reconciled.

Yep you're exactly right. FIA has such a hard-nosed stance and "I am God" complex.

I went to the Indy 500 once after the split... 2000 I think... while the spectacle of it was very cool... the racing was meh at best.

I like the stance the FIA has taken....in this economic climate why let Ferarri continue to just buy championships?? I would find it hard to belive Braun is spending the kind of money Ferrari and Mclaren are and they are running out front.

If they want more competitive teams and a more competitive series they need to open it up where you can buy chassis and engines. Do away with the car design element and more teams could be established. They could be more competitive earlier in the going rather than being well behind the other teams in chassis design.

Well it's not just about a spending cap. I think most of the teams would be fine with that. FIA has set a voluntary spending cap. Meaning that if you agree to a $60m cap, then you get a bunch of technical freedoms and breaks. If you don't then you don't get those same tech breaks. Essentially making 2 sets of rules for cars to conform to... which is very wrong IMO.

I think they should just have a free-for-all racing league. Any type of car, any type of engine, anything goes....whoever gets over the start/finish line first after doing so many laps wins....how you get there is irrelevant.

Big entry fee and winner takes all.

Personally, I'd rather go to a dirt track on Saturday night and watch the Late Models run. That is racing in its purest form.

I think they should just have a free-for-all racing league. Any type of car, any type of engine, anything goes....whoever gets over the start/finish line first after doing so many laps wins....how you get there is irrelevant.

Kind of like F-1 is now? Or Indy racing?

While I will not say that NASCAR is really racing,(its more of a show), it is way more entertaining than F-1 or Indy Car racing.

When you allow the richer teams to spend anything they want, you end up with the haves and have-nots. And the have will always be WAY faster.

I used to love F1, but I quit watching because of BS like this. The FIA thinks they are God and Ferrari thinks its their right to win races and championships.
I watch sometimes now that Toyota is in F1 and doing well, but its difficult for me to be passionate about F1 because of all the BS.
Not sure whats worse in terms of favoring a certain brand and soap opera drama: NASCAR or F1.
