Interesting Article

Being a Niners fan forever.. I've been following this. The greed of these people just kills me... especially when they haven't proved they can do squat at the professional level. IMO paying rookies big bucks is the dumbest thing a franchise can do... in any sport. If he really holds out like he's threatening... I hope he falls flat on his face. I just hope Singletary has some say in in.. I'm willing to be he'd tell Craptree to take a hike.

Re: Interesting Article

It is amazing the thought process, or lack there of, of some of the celebrities. I mean, come on, granted, we don't know what he was offered by the Niners, but I'm pretty sure it was more than enough to live off of the rest of his life with a few semi wise investments. The salaries these celebs and athletes are getting is ridiculous. Especially when you look at the pittance that soldiers, teachers and policemen and firemen are getting. Personally, I think the afore mentioned occupations are far more deserving of inflated salaries than some pompous, egotistical athlete or celebrity.

And before I get crucified, no, I don't want to watch a bunch of teachers in the classroom on Sundays. I'm not saying athletes don't deserve a substantial salary, but enough is enough. It reaches a point where you make more than you could ever spend in your lifetime. Ticket prices are already astronomical to attend a Pro event, and I can see the day when all NFL games will be broadcast on the NFL network, or a Pay Per View basis to offset these ridiculous salaries.

Re: Interesting Article

I too am a lifelong Niners fan, its been rough these last few years but I am a true fan and stick with my team. I saw the headline on ESPN last night and honestly I wasn't even shocked or surprised-goes to show you the times we live in that we almost (or at least I do) expect this from athletes/celebs. Its just another reaffirmation for me to not watch the big time sports leagues anymore (except PGA if that counts). I would rather mow my lawn or some other mundane chore than watch football, baseball or basketball. Do the still play hockey professionally?

The one thought I did have was "I wonder what Jerry Rice thinks about this?"

The other thing I saw the other day was that Eli Manning is now the highest or 2nd highest paid player in the NFL. Look, he's a good quarterback and its tough to play in New York City, but really? Ahead of Brady or Peyton or even Ben Rothlisberger (sp?)?

Re: Interesting Article

Actually it was Crabtree's cousin that made the comments that he was willing to do that, his agent denied that the comments were ever made and not only said it was to early in the process to talk about something like that, but insisted that he has never been one to negotiate through the media.

Sounds like maybe he oughta fire his Cousin, or buy a $3 roll of duct tape.

Saw it this morning on Mike and Mike. You can bet if it were my cousin, he would be wearing a muzzle by now. Bet he is no longer an "Advisor"
