Re: Favre signs with Vikings

After watching Aaron Rodgers dismantle the Cardinals last nite---Brett Who???

Arod had a QB rating of 155 and a cumulative QB rating of 151 for the 3 preseason games. Accurate, plenty of zip on the ball, patient, and a good measure of escapability, plus is not color blind. ie does not force the ball like old number 4.

The measure of Arod vs Favre will be Arod's durability. Brett was/is the KING of the Stat.

What a stable of recievers to toss the ball to. Best overall 5 in NFL. Plus the addition of Jermichael Finnley. A 2nd year pro TE from Texas. Drafted as a sophomore his rookie year was a learning year. Tall and athletic 88 is going to give opposing secondaries fits. Safeties and LB are mismatches. The Cardinals put a CB on him in the red zone. Result-- easy TD. He is not a devastating blocker (too lanky) but is more than adequate in getting a standoff.

Vikings--go ahead and spend your 12.5 million per year. Packers will still be looking at the purple team in the rear view mirror.

Good Lord I pray.... that the defense looks this good all year long. In this preseason it has been nothing short of amazing to watch.

This is nothing but a ploy to sell more tickets and merchandise. Period.

Of course it is!

He cannot do the team any harm and he will sell tickets...and more imprtantly television rights.

I read that they expect the revenue from televised rights from this years Packers vs Vikings game to garner over 12x's Favres salary alone.

You Cheeseheads crack me up. Even if Favre chokes in the offseason, going 2-0 against the Pack (not saying he has yet) is going to hurt.

Re: Favre signs with Vikings

It would be hard to understand unless you lived here & were a Packer fan. I think McCarthy is a good coach. Ted Thompson sucks. It never would've happened though had Favre never retired in the first place. I still wish Favre just played for the Pack and yes, it will hurt to see him sweep the Pack if indeed he does. At the same time I am interested to see what the future of the Pack is.

Wouldn't have pissed you off to see Bettis do the same thing?

Of course I would. I never said I didn't understand, if Bettis retired then the next year played for the Ravens, I'd feel supremely frustrated.

The difference is that the Pack have a future. There will come a point where the Favre issue will actually be over, I'd guess this year. Aaron Rodgers is young and talented, along with some many others on the Pack. Not to mention their year is far from over.

I agree.

What it is is that Favre was more to the Pack than any other player has ever been to any team. Or at least damn close. Like I said, I am looking forward to the future and was doing so before the whole "situation". We all knew the new Pack was soon to come, but not like this. It honestly is sickening to watch him act with the purple how he did with the pack. I can't explain exactly why, it's just like WTF!

However, as you eluded to, I am really just worried about my team and what is to come. I was a Packer fan my whole life (which is well before Favre) and always will be. I am optimistic cause as you said there is so much young good talent just waiting to gel.

It's like watching some dude bang your girl, but worse, because you can't just go get sloppy drunk and get with a girl yourself out of spite.

Nah, I get it dude. Favre and the Packers were synonymous for the longest time. It's honestly a really crappy situation in general. I can't really blame Favre for wanting to play if he can, even if he could've handled it better. Nor can you blame the Vikings for taking him. Nor can you blame the Packers for wanting to give Rodgers his day. Just sucks, in general, specifically for the Pack.

Look at it this way though. It's a good thing for everyone. Favre still gets to play, the Vikings finally have someone in the QB position, and the Packers get to garner new talent and work on setting up a franchise that may take a couple rings in the next decade, instead of counting their time.
