Ohio State football helmets

Thoughts while watching the Ohio St. vs. Michigan game. I am To lazy to do the research, and something I never knew in all my years of watching college football. And I even saw Woody Hayes put a lick on the defensive player that had the interception that led to his demise. Probably because I have been a Kansas fan and have not had much to cheer for. I imagine the stars, or whatever they are are given for accomplishments on the field. What exactly do the players get them for???

I have never checked into this, but it seems recently that the players have more and more on the helmets. Is there a criteria they use to hand these out?

there is however i have no clue what it is...... what a game.... that to me was the championship game.....

Yeah, my wife is on the phone right now to her mother and I heard about the KU v. K State game. Not bad after what K State did in Texas. We do however get to see the KU v. Mizzou game next week. The only KU game we will get to see all year. I was in between the time where KU v. K St. and KU v. Mizzou being the big rivalry. I vaguely remember tearing down the goal posts on the KU v. Mizzou game, and it was always the last game of the year for a reason.

Maybe they will be able to find a bowl game.

I've noticed these for years...I know they are given for big plays but I do not know the criteria for a player to receive one.

I think they make the helmet look tacky.

I am a big Bama fan but think the coolest uniforms in college football by a large margin are the Michigan Wolverines.

Those are the coolest helmets ever...and I think that Delaware has the same design....also like the blue and yellow color combo....

Yes, I to like the Michigan helmets, and having lived down towards Philly and Delaware, you are correct. They did steal the Michigan helmet.

I too always liked simple helmets. I did also notice in the Rutgers~Cinncinati game yesterday that Cinncinati had little "C"'s on the back of the helmets. I guess if you can't make it on Ohio State they still offer a similar helmet.

The stickers on the OSU helmets are Green Buckeye leaves. They get them for making big plays, most tackles, TD's, etc.

When I played we got them for every things such as every 50 yds receiving, TD, 50 yds rushing, int, game mvp, big hits, pancakes, 100 yd passing and special plays.

Thanks for clearing that up guys. It seems as of recent, either they have older returning players that play more years, better players (which I doubt to be the case), or possibly more leniant criteria from what I remember back in the days of say Woody Hayes. I just didn't remember seeing every player with a full helmet of leaves as I noticed in the Michigan game this last week.

Man, I HATE those stupid postage stamps all over the helmets. Dumbest thing in football. I don't like Michigan's helmets. Too "busy". Something cool like the Wisconsin Badgers or Clemson Tigers "paw" on the side. Also hate the dark jersey dark pants home uniforms. Yech. Looks like high school. White (or lighter colored) pants mandatory for home games.
