Destin, FL beach trip

Last Thursday afternoon, I went down to Destin, FL with five friends. We played 72 holes of golf over the next three days...

We left at 3:00 on Thursday and got down there at 7:15 for dinner....Played 18 on Friday, 36 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday morning...got back home Sunday afternoon at 5:30...

My friend's condo is on the water...I woke up and opened the door. Snapped a few photos of the beach....

The first course we played was Emerald Bay. The cost of the course was $105 and it really sucked...

1) The greens were in terrible condition...bumpy and dirty.
2) The greens were extremely small and had a design to bounce the ball off the green...

We retired to the deck at about 4:00 for drinks...

We drove about 30 miles to Hidden Creek, which is located in Navarre, FL. This course is inland and is a corporate-owned. Their clubhouse suffered water damage in hurricane Ivan and is in the process of being renovated.

The delightful surprise was the golf course which was in superb condition...with greens that were ryegrass and putted so beautifully.

And the price couldn't be beat....$58. After we finished 18, we asked for the "Replay Rate" and played another round in the afternoon for the princely sum of $26....it was a ton of fun.

I shot an 86 in the morning and an 81 in the afternoon. We all had a blast. If you are in NW Florida, go without hesitation to this bargain of a course...the staff was courteous, prompt and helpful...

It was quite windy all day with the breeze coming from the ocean side. Photo #3 is a 540 yard par 5. I hit Driver and 3 wood which left me with 170 to the pin in a 25 MPH wind.

Struck a beautiful 5 wood to 20 feet and parred it. Proud of this one...

Kelly Plantaition is an upscale private club in Destin that has a limited number of tee times daily for the public. It's pricy at $135 but its worth it.

A fantastic experience in every way...great layout, great condition and right on Choctawhatchee Bay....

Notice the long water carries on several holes. No weak knees allowed.

two weeks or so ago I was in Destin for about a week. Played at seascape and emerald bay. Both of which we got discounts from staying at our condo. I saw your post about Mcguires my dad ddi the same thing with the bathroom.

Nice pics man. Sounds like a great time. I'd agree with you on the 1st course. I played Boca Municipal down in Southern FL. last month it put that one to shame conditionwise for $53. Glad you had a good time and thanks for sharing the pics.

the condo looks amazing, as well as the last 2 courses... i cant believe they can get away with charging 105 for that first one....
