Brilliant.

It just helped convince me to do it. I have a Cameron in the bag, that might need the "spa treatment" and two older somewhat abused one in the garage

You lucky, lucky man that looks sweet. Infact I'd say it's the 2nd nicest looking Scotty I've ever seen after my Del Mar 3.5.

BTW, where is the MRS gonna sleep tonight? I take it your Scotty's in with you

I'm not totally heartless.....she has the box it came in tonight (and forseeable future) and the foam shaft grip cushion makes an ideal pillow.

2nd best behind your Del Mar your avatar.....

After playing around on the Scotty Site... it appears I could just send a putter in for iniitials and paint fill?

Assuming I get one in good shape and don't need the refinishing, shaft, grip, etc.

Interesting.....

Wait.....

What's that noise?

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Holy Shit!!

It's my 20 year old Ping Anser 2 attacking me!!!!!!!!

HEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Stanters - They did a damn fine job!! That putter is now part of you and your game will be better for it. It looks outstanding!

usa1950 - When your Anser is done kicking your ass let me know. I'll tell you about how I sent my Studio Style Newport 2 in for a half-inch shortening, re-grip with red Baby-T, two extra site lines on the flange, and my initials stamped on the face. I didn't have to deal with the restoration delay so my turn around was only a couple; not too bad considering that includes their down time around Christmas/New Years!

The thing is.... a Newport (and LOTS of scotty putters) are basically ANSERS... the most copied putter design of all time.

I'd have to go with something more along the lines of the heel shafted Napa, or similar.

I doubt I'll do it. Even used, beat upon Camerons go for more than $75 or so, then you spend big bucks for the refinish, paint, etc. and don't forget the $60+ dollars if you want a "special" headcover and why would anyone EVER pay $30 for a re-grip?

I'll still output most people with my old Ping. The custom paint and initials are really nice though.

Beautiful putter, ualtim and stanters.

However, I'd rather buy just a different putter. To be fair, though, what was an objective lack of desire for a Scotty, for many reasons, has turned into a large dislike. They really aren't anything special.

Any putter that you feel confident with and sinks putts is special, whether its a Cameron, a Sleighter, a Ping or a walking stick.

One man's meat etc etc......

I'm sure Scotty's are nothing special but it doesn't stop an awful lot of pros from using them.

100% serious question here, just what the heck makes a Scotty "worth" $300 new? Doesn't look a whole lot different than the crummy $10 Northwestern's you can get at K-Mart. Is it simply because some of the pro's use them? And is the only reason a pro uses them because they get sponsorship $$?

I have played around with a coup,e of them at Golf Galaxy & to me they certainly didn't seem to be anything all that great.

Looking at the whole Cameron Culture from the outside, so to speak, I've come up with this.

It's a high quality product.... very high quality.
Excellent metals and finishes
Stylish designs (even if many of them are just tweaks of classic designs)
Attention to detail surpassing any other putter manufacturer (little logos, engravings, excellent colors and matching of multiple colors, unique dancine letters, etc)
Customization (try taking your $15 Northwestern from K-mart to a shop and having your initials MILLED into the face, lol)

The Pros use them... so they have a HUGE brand recognition advantage.
The partnership with Titleist... the #1 ball forever.... only helps

Marketing... might be the biggest factor here. The putters are available, but someone elusive. Limited editions, limited edition head covers.... Circle T Tour issue products... prototypes (which end up in the publics' bags JUST enough to fan the flames of deisre for those who can afford it)

Prestige

The seem to be a model company, really.

Nice summary above.

Took it out for just 6 holes today (I was waiting for a delivery that turned up at 4pm ) and had 8 putts. Not a bad start. It plays really nicely - very good feel, the pro plat option was a risk as I was worried it would effect the old feel of the face but it is just as good.
