The Links of Gettysburg

Played this beauty last Saturday. This course is the home of the Gettysburg Championship on the Duramed Futures Tour. The winner last year is now on the LPGA. Beautiful course that just ate me up. Shot a 91, with more doubles than I've had in two years. First two pics are off the practice green, first is 18, second is 12 and the 11th fairway. Three and four are of the signature hole #3. The red rock wall is probably 30-40 feet high. Hit a pin high 8 iron in the rough, 15 feet away, and made a double bogey 5. Greens are slick and rough long.

Next pics are from the tees on various holes, and one includes me and my golf bud Phil. I'm on the left. That pic is on the 600 yard par five 7th. I hit one OB, and one in the water on the left. The last one is the tee for 15th. 233 from the tips. We were playing blues, which made for a much easier 180 yard shot. Cut a nice 6 into that front hole location, two putt for par.

Next picture is tee shot on 18. Last is the second shot into the par 5 18th. Nice finishing hole, with a good risk reward second shot if you hit a good drive. I hit hybrid-hybrid, and left myself with an awkward 50 yard third to a tight pin, and made bogey. Phil hit a good drive, three wood second, and up and down for birdie to edge me by a shot. He had three birdies, and still finished with a 90.

Overall, great layout and very challenging. If you get to Gettysburg, this is a must play.

Great pics, clugnut, but the pic of you raises 2 questions...do you own a hat or real golf shoes?

Hole #3 looks fun, but mean.

Nice looking course. My wife has been making noise about going the Gettysburgh again in the spring......

BTW, your friend Phil looks like David Duval.

Hats really do not fit my large melon very well, and those shoes are Nike Shox II golf shoes. Didn't know you were such a golf fashion snob MC!

He gets this all the time. When we went to the Open and saw Duval in person, I told Phil "In your dreams, buddy" b/c he is jacked. He's been lifting ever since.

And you're a technology snob, eh? I never set the date stamp on my camera.

And the course is that long, it took two days to play.

Beautiful course. Is that Bluegrass rough? Nasty, nasty stuff. Makes our Bermuda seem like Cotton Candy.

Oh, ok...well, they look good on YOU!

I do prefer the more traditional style golf shoes, but have nothing against the tennis shoe looking ones.
