Kentucky Trip

Well, we made it out of the big blizzard to Kentucky. WBL was blowing my mind with the mighty Sumo all weekend. Never ever saw him hit it that well with the driver. It was cold but we had a good time. Here are some picks of our fantastic swings, and the course at Kentucky Dam Village. Fairways were dormant bermuda grass and lots of wet areas. Ball plugged on almost every shot. But we had fun, and didn't shoot bad for not playing for almost 5 months. Here are some of the 2nd day pics. WBL took the honors 82 to 86 on the first day, and I got him 79 to 81 on the 2nd day:

It's winter golf so I won't break your balls about the jeans and cargo pants.

Thanks for the pics!

These are from day 3 at Mineral Mounds. The course was much dryer and in better shape because of the elevation changes. You can't really tell from the pics, but they were tremendous. In the first two pics are the tee shot, and second shot looking down. The drop off on either side of the fairway is at least 20 feet. The course overlooks Lake Barkeley.............beautiful area. I can imagine how pretty it is once the trees fill out and the fairways green up.

Here, the first and last pic are some elevation changes that the photos just don't show. The second two are of a Par 3 on the back nine from above the tee............159 yards and on 3rd photo, if you look close you can see my tee shot. And I did make the birdie putt..........LOL.

sssmokin forgot to say I got him on the third day 81-83. And Mineral Mounds drains well because it was designed to drain well. The fairways are "mounds" with drains and is layed over stone. I amazingly kept it on the "mounds" (fairways) off the tee and scored pretty well. We both had our "A" game working for chips and putts. It was mighty cold but no rain so a very enjoyable trip. Here's a better view of sssmokin's amazing shot "off the cliff" to 10" left of the pin. Oops wrong picture.... Anyway, my Sumo2 drive was right between the two fairway traps where I was aiming. That's out about 259 yards to that spot.

OMG a Red Stripe--Jamaican Beer in Kentucky????? Well Ok

sssmokn--how did that new driver perform??? I take it WBL will use that SUMO2 for a few months then regret he traded it.

Glad to hear you gentlemen had a great time. Those fairways look awfully narrow and the rough vertically challenging.

We BROUGHT all the beer... You surely can't find it in Kentucky.

Sumo2 will be my "beginning of summer" driver and it's not going anywhere!! I'm hoping the Ping is my "later summer finally got the swing better" driver.
