MCDavis and me.

MCDavis and his family travelled to Naples this week for a vacation, and I was fortunate enough to be able to share a great day of golf with him, his wife, and their 13 year-old son, William.

Let me start out by saying that William kicked our butts, shooting a smooth 45-41 on a rather difficult golf course. If he had putted a bit better he may have broken 80, since he was hitting fairways and greens all day long. The greens were exceptionally slow, and we all had a tough time with speed control.

This kid has a swing, a GREAT short game, and a terrific attitude. He loves the game, and knows how to act on the course. MC, you've taught him well. It was really fun playing golf with him. And of course it was an honor and a pleasure to meet you and your wife. You're great people, and I consider you a friend. Thanks for a great day.

Sorry I didn't take too many pictures. But here's a couple.

William's follow-through. Pretty classic.

William hitting his perfect 200-yard tee shot to the island green on the par-4 11th hole. You either love this hole, or you hate it. He loved his par. I hated my 8.

-

-
-
MCDavis on the left, and me on the right (doing my Payne Stewart impression...)
-

-
-
MC and his wife. Wonderful woman. Why she picked you is beyond me...
-

-
-
MC hitting an nice recovery shot over the junk, over a bunker, to a short-sided pin (you can just see the flag behind the tree.) Put it to 6 feet and made the putt.
-

-
-
Well, it was another good Shottalk get-together, and I look forward to doing it again.

You know....
I noticed madras shorts (plain old plaid in your case) were making a comeback.

I considered buying some.

Then I saw them on you guys. I think I'll pass. Thanks for that.

Anyway, great pics and I wish I were there. My dad winters in Naples so maybe some day I'll actually get down there.

Looks like a great time and great pics. Is that a CompNT I see in Will's driver? That looks like a very "Florida" golf course, I like the par 3.

Let me start by saying that if any of you ever have the chance to play Crown Colony in Ft. Meyers, FL, play it. If that opportunity includes playing with Eracer, MAKE SURE you play it!! Eracer is a great host and a blast to hang out with. Also had the pleasure of meeting Eracer's father, father's wife, and some friends of their's. They were all great people who made us feel right at home (Eracer's dad wanted William to come back so they could win some money off some of the other members!).

I've had to listen to him ever since, little snot! Actually, I couldn't be more proud of him and his game. Eracer, we all feel we made a new friend!

Yes, folks, after all his complaining about plaid, the man showed up head to toe in it!!! My wife loved the outfit...and I did, too!

I guess those pics made you realize you'd never look as good as us, so why bother, right?

Eracer, you should post a few pics of the hat for Sling. I didn't take any, or I would.

Nope, it's the stock US Kids shaft.

Ok, here are pics (left to right) of:

The clubhouse...beautiful place.

One of the par 3's with water and bunkers, #3. Simple hole: hit it straight and long enough or find trouble.

Eracer, what hole is the 3rd picture? I didn't take these (William and Susan did), so I'm not sure about this one other than it's a great shot of the course.

The last picture shows my wife patiently waiting for Eracer and I to hit from the drop zone as we both dumped into the water. This is #11, par 4 with an island green. Yes, William hit the green and she was safe but slightly off the edge. I've heard about that one, too.

A few more pictures (left to right again):

Another shot of the clubhouse from across the water. You can see some of the houses to the left with the typical pool/lanai set up that is so popular in the area.

The 2nd picture shows William's "squat" move as he begins his downswing. I'd try this, but I'd either soil or rip my pants! This was taken on #17 (Eracer?), a nice par 3 that's all carry due to the bunker.

The 3rd picture shows the storm that stopped us at the end of 13. We went to the clubhouse, had a great lunch and then went back out to play the final 5 holes.

Eracer, anything you can add to my posts (or corrections if I have the wrong hole listed), please do.

A few action shots (yes, left to right again!):

Eracer watching as he sends another one straight and long down the middle, me wishing I could do that.

Eracer thinking "Nothing to it" as I continue to pray that I can find this one. If you look closely you'll see one of the two whitest legs on the planet!

You will note that in picture 3 Eracer is teeing off first again as I watch in awe!

E had his HiBore XL in the groove that day starting on the first tee box. Looked like a great club for him!

As Eracer said above, another great Shot Talk outing that I hope will not be my last.

Myrtle Beach, anyone?

Sounds like you guys had an amazing time!

Anyone else think its amazing how when you spend time with people on internet forums you kind of get a mental picture of someone, but then when you actually see them, they look nothing like you had imagined?
