Thread: First project a success!

  1. First project a success!

    Hi everyone,

Keep in mind this is nowhere near as an elaborate of a project as some who have posted before me. But this could be the start of something huge! And besides I was messing around with a new camera.

For my first project I had been flirting with the idea of building a belly putter. Natalie was a great putter and at the stock 34" I was quite happy with her. I stumbled across a belly version in a local store and nailed everything, even a few mini-lags. and I thought "I could do this at home." Now stretched to just shy of 43" it's like falling in love all over again!! And I actually like the winn grip I installed over the one from the store, plus I found the shaft piece I used as the extension in the trash at work. I'll try and attach a couple pics I snapped.

She may not be the prettiest girl at the ball, but I wasn't going for looks on this. I made the changes really late in the fall so I've only played maybe 3 rounds with natalie II, but so far I am very pleased!

If the long putter doesn't work out I do have another 34" YES that I can turn to. Although everyone's rave reviews about Rife putters has got my attention of late...

I found immediately that putts within 4-6 feet are automatic, just aim and fire! It took some getting used to for longer putts, but a playing partner pointed out that I should stand a little taller in my stance. I was bending over too much, that helped a lot!! A lot of the older fellas I play with had trouble understanding my plan at first, but I guess their bellies were getting in the way?!!

I only said that because to me, all belly putters are ugly. :emot-ange But what from what I've seen and read, there is no denying that they work. They just aren't my cup of tea.

  7. Not for everyone that's true, but I can't argue with the results so far!! Also a note of interest; I've noticed that going from a belly putter to a standard length one results in remarkably good results??

With my first project completed and working well, I thought what the heck and get another under way. Here are a couple plans I have, see what you think??

The irons I got for a steal, I'm not really sure what they are besides Hogans. I was hoping someone might be able to help? My gf's son has used them maybe twice and being r/h they serve no purpose really to me, but I thought I could clean them up a little, regrip, maybe some paintfill and they would be a great back-up set if a buddy forgot his clubs at home. The putter I'm not sure what to say about it, I found it in the furthest back corner of our Pro Shop. No body wanted it and I just thought it was cool. Not really sure what to do with it???

Yes they are really nice clubs, I was shocked to find them where I did and for as little as I did. Someone basically tossed these. Would you have any idea what they are Jeff??
