The Shot Talk Effect

Back in June when I first came across this place I had the bag below

TaylorMade 540xd
TaylorMade Vsteel 3w
TaylorMade RAC OSII 3-SW
TaylorMade TP GW
Ping Anser

Not many survivors are there? This is the Shot Talk Effect (STE).

Mind you I have a better set now and I intend to keep all these for several weeks (so wanted to type months there but just couldn't do it - STE again)

Any fellow sufferers (for the want of a better word) gone through the same overhaul?

I don't think it's really the Shot Talk Effect... more like the "2 feet of snow on the ground I haven't played since Thanksgiving" effect, but I did go overboard and buy a sand wedge that I really didn't need.

Still haven't had the guts to tell my wife ...... she just doesn't understand such things...

Are you crapping me... I am the biggest victim on here... My largest purchase had been a used R7 till I came here. I had a couple Mizuno wedges, 200 steel 5W, Sonartec 23* and a set of Mizuno cast cavity backs my dad bought for $10 at a yard sale. I had just regripped them with some "cool" green and black Grip1 grips too...

The list would go on for days but these guys just kept encouraging me. Next thing I know I'm buying blades, Cameron putter, drivers, drivers and more drivers. Then the US OEM stuff got old fast... I remember the thread where Rockford introduced me to the world of Japan and Tour clubs. I went from incouragable to incurable.

I've gotten pretty good at the game though. I can say I usually end up with the club I want for about 1/3 of the price everyone else is paying. I honestly love hoing almost as much as playing.

i don't have one club left in my bag from the end of last season.

at my H.S. Regionals i was playing:

TM Burner 420 8.5* X GD YS-6+
TM V-Steel 3w
TM V-Steel 5w
Adams Tight Lies GT Tour 4-PW
Adams Watson G,S,L wedges
Odyssey Rossie 2 dfx

slowly weeded out the nonperformers in my bag, it not might be the flashiest now, but the clubs in it work for me and thats what matters i guess

I did a little quick ho'ing around Christamas so I wouldn't feel left out.

Just a Driver, 4W and 7W. You know nothing too special.

Of course, I also had a complete set of irons built 4-LW along with a #2 and #3 hybrid back in June and July.

Oh, and there's the new putter too...had forgotten that

STE?

Nah. ST just added fuel to a fire that was already burning for me. For others, it has just brought out their inner Ho.

We don't create the Ho, we just make them Ho better.

Well, now that you mention a STE it might be true. I started out in here completely happy with my Cleveland irons and R580 driver. Dumb cheap bag and balls. Now everything is new. EVERYTHING. And I've tried driver after driver after driver. But I cannot say I begin to be in the league with Ez and R35. You see, I just go and buy it full price. I don't wheel and deal and get stuff for 1/3 the cost like Ez or R35. I'm NOT a GOOD ho. But I'm a BIG ho I guess.

One other difference is I haven't "conformed" into the ST Mizzie iron craze and for that I've taken heat. Of course everyone wasn't on the Mizzie iron craze openly yet when I bought my Pings, still on the Cleveland driver craze (which I found was a piece of junk).
