Mickelson is a saint

In a recent Golf World magazine issue there was an article on former pro football player Conrad Dobler's favorite golfer. As many know the NFL does not take very good care of their retired players and Dobler's wife was in an accident and is now quadraplegic. Most of their money goes for her therapy and their daughter couldn't go to college due to lack of funds. Mickelson's lawyer called and he is putting their daughter through college. Over $20,000 a year so she can go to the school of her choice. Mickelson keeps this stuff low key but he found out about their problem and is helping them. Now that is cool.

I am not a big fan of Phil's

when it comes to how he plays golf (I have yet to trust the new Phil who SEEMS to have matured in his course management or judgement.), but as a person, he is at the top level when it comes to exercising his responsibility as a role model. Some today do not believe that such a responsibility exists. I am just glad that Phil, Tiger, Davis Love, and others believe otherwise. Our society needs role models other than JUST the parents who do have the greatest responsibility for filling that ROLE.

Sincerely, Cypressperch

And even John Daly, with all of his personal faults and excesses, has come through charitibly for several needy people.

Good for Phil...great story.

Does anyone else remember that Conrad Dobler was once known as the dirtiest player in pro football?

Kind of ironic, isn't it?

Yeah, it mentioned that in the article. Also said when he played he only made like $125,000 in his highest paid year.

This is a very generous thing from Mickelson for sure. I read somewhere that he is not well liked among his peers. He seems like a very down to earth person to me though, from what I can see and hear on the tube. A fellow lefty that I pull for every week.

im a lefty but i play right.
actually im almost completely ambidextrous. i can break 100 left handed, play hockey decently left handed (play that right as well usually), write with both hands almost equally as well, and catch and throw with both.

I'm sure if we had the $$$$, we would have our own random acts of kindness. Good for Phil.

While this is going to sound awful, I applaud Phil for taking on this responsibility, but for them to say he keeps it low key, I mean if he kept it low key it wouldn't be in a magazine.

VTDivot
He keeps it low profile. Conrad Dobler did not...
