Just had a question about some golf courses in Kentucky, and what better way to find the answers than ask a resident. Warbirdlover and I are thinking of taking a couple of days in late March, and heading to Kentucky Lakes area for some golf. Here are a couple of links from the courses we're looking at. Any comments on the courses to play in this area would be appreciated.

Hello from Kentucky! I live in Louisville area, but haven't played any courses yet in the western part of the state. Google "golf kentucky links" and go to there site and check under forum and you will see reviews of courses.

I live about an hour and a half from Kentucky Lake. I played the Kentucky Dam Village couse probably 10 years ago. Don't remember much about it. Come to think of it this probabaly wasn't much help at all.

If you want to drive about another 2 hours you could come play my home course. www dot rendlake dot org/golf

nope, cant say too much about the courses down there, sorry. I can say if you are coming down anytime soon i would call the course, cause there is about a foot on snow in the grass in cincinnati right now, probably 150 miles north. but im probably a 5 hour drive from there, so you never know.

Fear not Fellers! I live in Western Kentucky, and can point you to some great courses. The two you've got links to, Warbird, are fine courses, but there are plenty of 'em around here you'll enjoy. A quick google search should tell you all you need to know. Mineral Mounds is close to the lakes area, and like the two state park courses, has very pretty surroundings. My home course, Paxton Park in Paducah has great greens and some interesting challenges. Hmm...let's see...Drake Creek is a very good course...the Silos is also good. These are all public courses, and the fees are very reasonable. If you're staying in the Lakes area, these are all a short drive away. If you need more info, lemme know, especially about where to eat!

Definitely would like to know the good places to eat. Besides golf, that's Warbirdlover and my favorite hobby. A friend from work goes down every year on the lakes golf package.............something like $200 for lodging, two meals a day, and unlimited golf for two days. He waits until the week ahead and gets the extended weather forecast for Paducah before making reservations. A couple of those courses that you mentioned were on the list of courses that you can play on this package I believe.

Ah, where to begin...let's go with locally owned restaurants, all the big chain places are here, too...
In Paducah, look for B. Russell's--four stars without the attitude or dress code, and without the high price, for that matter. Also in Paducah, try
Whaler's Catch for seafood, and you cannot come down here without getting barbecue...we're famous for it, pit-smoked ambrosia. If you're staying in the Lakes area, you gotta go to Patti's in Grand Rivers, right there in the area.
World Famous for their two-inch thick pork chops, and rightfully so. Off the top of me head, that's where I'd send you.
