Anyway, how concerned about fake clubs should I be on eBay? Is it rare or a serious on-going problem?

PM him for the Serial Number. Since it's a stock picture, I'd be careful. Really if you PM him, and he gives you a good Serial Number, then you should be okay.

The way to verify is just make up a story to the Ping Support and let them check. Make it a good story.

I always ask for real pics of the actual item. I hate stock photos and have been burned by them. Check feedback as well and if he has alot of negatives stay away.

This is a golf store with nearly 1600 transactions and a 99.8% feedback rating. Why would you even think this fake?

I would be my shorts this real.

Yes they do, mostly unused old accounts. I am sure this guy would know in a day if his account was jacked.

My ebay account was jacked about 4 months ago. I noticed the same day and ended all the auctions the guy had listed. I sell sportswear on Ebay and have over 2500 feedbacks so he used my name to sell expensive car parts with 2 day auctions. He ran my ebay fees up to 1000 bucks in the 1 day. I must say that Ebay, once notified, cleared up the whole mess and got my account back to normal quickly. My store was only out of commission for 2 days I think. It happens all the time according to Ebay, but Lyle is right when he says that most people, myself included would notice it within a few hours. I am logged in to Ebay too many hours a day to not notice, lol.

Awhile ago there was a thread on a fake G5 driver. When comparing the pics between the one on sale and a pic off the Ping web site it was obvious. The blue color was wrong and the swoops on the bottom of the club were not even close. I'll try and find that thread somewhere and put the link in here....

Just to clue you guys in... This is the guy who sent me the fake R7425. At the time he had over 1000 feedbacks with 100% positive. Maybe he was legit at one time.. not anymore. Read the comments.

Yes, but that doesnt mean this guy is bad too.

You want deals you gotta take chances. Thats just the way it is.
You want 100% positive guarentees, shop at a golf store and pay retail.
