How do you organize your golf bag?

I was reading GD the other day and was looking at the "Whats in the Bag" photo and it reminded me of a pet peave of mine. The clubs were all over the bag with no order what so ever. It drives me nuts when I lend out a bag of clubs and they come back with the irons, woods, wedges, and putter put back in the bag with no thought of putting the club back where you found it. Maybe I am just a little OCD (although my wife would say differently as my areas of the house are a mess.)

Back when I was a caddy, I learned very quickly that you had to organize the golf bag as soon as you got your hands on it so you could find the requested club ASAP when asked for it. Woods in the top pockets arranged left to right starting with the driver on the left. Irons in the middle pockets arranged left to right starting with the tallest/longest iron and working your way down in order. The lower pockets are where you put the wedges and putter. Always in decending order of height from left to right to prevent club heads from banging into other clubheads and causing additional noise/damage. Whenever I got my bag assignment, the first thing I would do is organize the clubs as stated above so that I would be ready to go on the first tee.

So, what do you do? How do you organize your bag?

I always start out a round with my bag organized but by the end the irons are all screwed up. Like almost everyone, I keep the woods in the back 2 compartments, Irons and hybrid in the next 3 and my putter in the front right. I have a buddy who keeps his woods in front and irons in back, it looks really weird though.

It drives me up the wall that, for my bag to be neat I play one too many hybrids, so I can't set my bag up perfectly! Other than that I'd have my driver and hybrids in the individual slots down the side of the dividers, then have two sets of 3 irons and my 3 wedges in the other slots, and my putter on its own at the top.

Of course, by the second shot on the course the clubs have all got out of position, and it annoys me enough to be considering buying a 14 divider bag!

Nice looking bag, KWC.

At least I am not the only one with OCD.

I feel your pain Sandy. Its an older pic, but I have the same problem with my bag and the extra hybrid.

Good news, though. Ezra76 is organizing a group bag purchase from Global Golf soon so there is opportunity to get a decent bag at a great price. I like my current bag (other that the name on the side) as it has a unique top set up to keep clubs from banging into each other, but I am always on the look out for a better option.

I start off organized but irons are all over by the end. The 2 things I try not to do are jam a steel iron shaft down the same hole as a graphite shaft is in and let a shorter iron drop and hit a longer one, leaving a mark. I'm getting just a little bag chatter but nothing too bad. Irons are most definitely good to go another year. I'm going to try to take reasonably good care of them so I can sell them next year.

I'm very OCD/Anal about my bag. I have one of those plastic organizers. Of course I also use forged clubs so if I wasn't OCD about it they'd be all minged up from bag chatter.

just bougt org 14 Cally bag and it does a good job of

keeping them all the way I like them. Every club in it's place, and an extra putter caddy on the side, (15 clubs go figure) lots of compartments and most of all it's narrow so when I put it on the cart, it doesn't take up more space than it should, like my buddies Datrek bigass bag that is about 1-1/2 times as wide as it should be so I can hardly get my bag on and then can't get into that side of my bag. It's also padded well so when the clubs rattle around, there is less marking on the shafts.(graphite)

Everything has a place so I don't have to search for anything.

Tim I love the shot of the pool in the background.

Mine have to be like this.

What really drives me crazy is when I send a 4 some out on the course with 4 full rental sets and when they come back some bags have 20 clubs and some have 8. one bag has 2 8 irons and no putter, all 3 head covers are missing and so on. It's not that hard to put the clubs back into the correct bag. even if they all look the same. Dosen't really bother me when they come back out of order, I expect that since they don't own the clubs and they don't really care.
