I hate aerated greens

They "punched" our greens on Monday March 28th. So today we were 13 days into the post aeration period and they just sucked.

Still loaded with sand. And the damn things were as hairy as King Kong's balls.

I needed a good shoulder turn when I was over 20 feet away.

We had about 2 inches of rain in the middle of the week and the course was still pretty soggy. I had several drives that almost plugged.

We're about two weeks away from pristine conditions.

They aerate it different at our course, they don't punch the straight holes, but they create little slits in the turf, You don't even notice it while playing.

Yeah Bravo it's a phackin curse the aerated greens. We tend to do it twice a year May & Sept, but our greens got diseased last June and short of ripping them up we've played constantly on the lump and bumps ever since.

It's all the more discouraging because we were known for the quality and speed of our greens and we attracted a lot of visitors fees. It's got to the stage now that when I entertain people I tend to steer clear of my own course and stump up the readies for a premium course closeby.

We all bitch and crib about it, unfortunately the head gkeeper is a friend of mine, so I have to be a bit more emmm ... circumspect, but I'll give it this year and if the improvements aren't apparent I think I'll sell up and move elsewhere...

What has your friend indicated is the problem?

What kind of grass do you have on your greens? How long has it been since you renovated them??

There was a note in our last newsletter that our greenskeeper wasn't going to aerate our greens this Spring. Instead he says he's going to aerate, overseed and sand in the Fall. Hope it works because it's the first time they tried it.
