I Finally Did It...

I finally uploaded my swing for all to gawk at. Now you will finally see what I mean when I say that my swing looks like John Daly without a spine. I apologize for the quality, but my camcorder is worthless right now, so I had to use my wife's little digital camera. I am not looking for pointers (we'd be here all day if that were the case), I just wanted to finally let those of you who wanted to see my swing have a chance to view it in all it's monstrous glory. Oddly, enough, I hit every shot very well. Maybe I should play with a camera recording me all the time. Enjoy!!!

Cool MAA

Nice rhythm but where are you in the world? Some desert? Man, that place looks like it could do with a drink!! I'm parched just looking at it.

On the bright side the ball must run for miles!!

Doesn't look to shabby. West Texas, no? Clear blue skies, I love it.

I like the swing. But, as alot of guys have trouble with, your balance is out of whack. You rotate nicely around your left side and leg, but as Chem pointed out, at the expense of your back.

You should try to stay more balanced while rotating around your left side. Mentally, think of your leg leg, your left side of your ribcage as a pole. Then, hit your shot, without that moving (it will, but ever so slightly, i mean, it has to.).

Another drill is hitting half 7 irons and not moving your head. Then, as you get comfortable with the balance, dial it up a couple notches. But keep that left side in mind. You'll generate enough power and be able to have a full shoulder turn - without wrenching your back. Just think in 15-20 years, are you gonna be able to swing like that?

Great swing tho...

Is it just me or is that clubface opening really quickly? Just wondering. Nice swing though.

Yeah, I live in west central Texas. We have some nice courses with plush fairways, but I play on my air force base for free, so I deal with it. The fairways are not all that hard considering how dry they are right now, but I do like driving the 340 yard 13th every once in a while with 80-100 yards of roll. The 30 mph winds hell/kill too!

Oddly enough, this is the shortest my backswing has ever been. I have a picture of me in mid-drive with the club pointing straight down at the ground. It was perpendicular to the ground! Nuts.

I actually like my swing. I find as many fairways and greens as my buddies who have nice swings. Somehow my timing keeps it in play. My short game is what helps/hurts my game. SO I'm focusing more on that. I figure the way my back is being tortured, by the time I'm 40, I'll have a nice backswing that stops at parallel.

Like mine and I still hit an occassional 300 yard drive (107 mph ss) if I get some roll. Actually I'm about 3/4 beyond parallel. I always hit the sweet spot with it.

Yeah, I do that intentionally with my driver. I actually set up with the club face a little open. I've found it helps me take a more inside approach to the ball on the backswing and subsequentally the downswing. I used to have bigger bananas than King Kong before I switched to a stronger grip and started setting up like this. Unfortunately, if my timing is off, I tend to hit ho-o-o-oks like a champ.

Oh well.

Ahhhh, okay. Hey, if it works...

Looks nice though, and I've found someplace with uglier grass than New Mexico!

From impact on that looks very nice. Your right shoulder drives through the ball well, much better than I do.

Please, please, please, shorten that backswing. You will get more control and hit straighter shots. And you might still be walking when you hit 50.

I'd like the feedback on my swing but I'm afraid if I actually saw myself swing I might have to quit.

Enjoy !!, it brought tears to my eyes !!, hope you have good medical insurance.

It is pretty obvious the faults that are there, takeaway breaks down, clubshaft angles way to flat and inside, across the line and overswing, although you do actually come down ont a good-ish plane and path, you can see where those big hooks are gonna come from!!

The weird thing is, as faulty as it is, and I'm the first to point out it's a very nasty swing, it works for me. Over the last 2 years I have tracked my stats and I average 10 out of 14 fairways and 13 of 18 GIR. I would say that is pretty good. However, my short game has killed me, so when I do miss I have a hard time getting up and down for par. That's why I have yet to break 74.

I wish you guys could actually see the ball flight on these shots, because all but one were either perfectly straight or a nice draw (I pushed the first one a little). All landed in the fairway (2nd one on the par 3 landed on the green). I have had people say that it's a wonder that I even make contact, much less hit it straight, and I have to agree. However, I have tried to change my swing in the past, always with disatrous effects. My swing isn't one where a single change is required, it would call for a total overhaul and I don't have the time or patience for that. I don't care if I don't look like Adam Scott on my back/downswing, so long as I look like him at impact.
