Great weekend in Wisconsin

I've been grumbling about cold and snow but finally got a good golf weekend. Saturday I hit a bucket of balls at the nearby outdoor range and worked out some kinks.

Sunday I got 9 holes in at a county course. Started the first hole out horrible (50º F and 20 mph wind but sunny). Then started cranking out some pretty respectable drives considering the cold and wind (250+), straight down the middle. Botched some iron shots and ended in most of the greenside bunkers.

The new Vokey sm 56º got me out in good shape on every one! Putting saved me. New 2-ball putter is paying for itself on the greens. Need some work with the 3-wood.

What a joy to be able to be playing around here again. No matter how bad I scored. (I shot mid-90's for 18). Hope some of you other guys "on the tundra" got to play too!

Sounds like it was warmer "in the tundra" than it was here yesterday. The temp actually dropped from 65F at 10AM to 50F at 2PM! The winds were the worst I have ever played in. At one point a hawk was trying to fly overhead: his wings were canted at 45* and he was being blown backwards. He finally gave up and landed in a tree.

There were very few fools on the courses here yesterday. Today, Monday, is of course: PERFECT! And I'm at work.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.
