Thread: San Diego Golf Academy, legit?

  1. San Diego Golf Academy, legit?

Just wondering if any of you have attended, or know of anyone that has any knowledge about this school. Is it a legit program? Or is it a complete waste of the students 20 grand.

That's about right. I'm finishing up my BA this week and I'm not even in the hole that much.

SDGA is legit, but when you graduate from it you will still have to go through the PGA's program if you want to be a PGA Professional. Plus, you have to have a 13-handicap to enroll, and when you graduate you must have at least an 8 (I think...?).

That's all I know, from the brochure that they sent me a couple years ago.

  4. Yeah, these colleges are legit. Im going to PGCC in Orlando in september. It seems like a smart idea, golf isnt really what you know, its who you know. Gotta hope to make contacts and get job offers from the school's "rolladex" Not likely to get a job going to courses and blindly handing in resumes.

What are you going there for Golf Professional or Golf Management? Did you also look into SDGA? If so, what made you decide to go to PGCC. I'm asking because I'm considering one of these schools and plan to make a campus visit at both schools later in the year and just wanted your input.

  6. Lefty, PGCC seems more golf and instruction based. I don't want to be a greenkeeper, or manager of a proshop. I chose the college that would lead me to Instruction faster. For two years, with room and board, all expensises , and utilities i think the total came to about $31,000. Not horrible. If you want to shoot the breeze about these colleges anytime, send me a PM.
