Flight Limit?

The range I go to decided to throw out most of the old balls and get a bunch of new Topflites. I guess it is obvious the price going up $1 for a bucket kind of explains how they are paying for them.

Does anyone know the color of the "limited flight" balls? These have a black band around them and say "superrange". I'm almost positive they are the limited flight balls. The things that tipped my off are the little "green" around 200, I can normally reach with 6, had trouble reaching with a flushed 5. Drives were short and considerably lower that what I've been getting, pulled out a half dozen of my own balls, higher and longer instantly. Short irons and wedges seem to fly a lot higher as well.

The balls and the price change are not something I'm too happy about. It's still $20 for 4 tokens instead of 5 though. I think I'll be resorting to a lot more "swing" work from now on there and just try to ignore the distances. I had my stupid wrench out 4 different times, changing the weights in my driver, couldn't figure out why they were so low when I'd been hitting towering drives on the course.

Just searched for them. Looks like they are not limited flight.

A hard surlyn cover allows for great durability
2-Piece Construction

Two reviews I found, one guy says they're hard as a rock and the other guy says they're "better than prov1's, suckers!"

Just looks like a cheap, 2-piece ball with a hard as hell cover on it.

Maybe they just need some "breaking in" then. They must be durable as I hit about 10 full SW's to nearly 100yds. and no pieces of ball in the grooves. My SW normally shreds the ball on a full swing, most balls are unplayable after a full bunker blast. I was hitting off the mats too, mimicks a superspin bare lie. My SW sounds like snapping a broomstick over your knee off a bare lie full.

Eh, you can't blame them for going the cost effective way.

Most range balls suck, as far as performance is concerned.

Thanks, that is like dead on what I was getting. That little "green" I normally can put it right on the stick with a pured 6. I had trouble just reaching the front edge with a 5.... and trust me, with a Miura there is no doubt you've flushed it.

Thanks for the info man. Any opinion as to ballflight? That's what I really want to avoid, making changes based on those flying higher or lower and having way different results on the course.

I'm really lucky, the range I go to has an executive course as well with two holes that have long carries across water and a few other holes with lateral water. They collect balls from the hazards once a week from this time of the year until fall and get almost all their range balls from there. Most all the range balls there are at least decent regular two piece balls. I've hit a lot of all kinds of Titleists and other premium balls on that range. Their range also goes out to an honest 350 yds. or so also. They have mats and heated stalls but also have awesome grass hitting areas and like 8 target greens. The only time the grass areas are closed is if it's winter or we've had a lot of rain.

Great practice facility, several putting greens, chipping green and two practice bunkers. It's been rated in the top 100 driving ranges in the U.S. for about 10 years in a row now. Best of all it's about 5 minutes from my house.

I have no idea how long it really is. It's adjacent to the 200yd. sign. The course I play has 3 par 3's 200,200 and 201. 2 are uphill, I hit 5, 1 is down, I hit 6. I delfoft my irons at impact so I'm usually longer than most guys, even those who considerable outdrive me. Plus the shafts are 1" long over Japan specs, like 3/4" over US... as well as 105grams.

Wow, that is really nice. There is a facility down near my dad's house that has all sorts of crazy greens and bunkers. Unfortunately they have some $1200 membership to use all that stuff. If I lived down there and had a "real" job I'd consider doing the lessons and what not there. For now I'll just keep playing on the course and using the range for my swing I guess.

I went to the range once in 1996. I should go more often.

On a serious note though, I had my little guy with me today up to the club. We putted for about an hour and then had some hot dogs and gatorade. The Mrs. works every other weekend, and it's him and I all weekend, so I look for stuff that can keep us both occupied. He enjoys it, and I will be a better putter because of it.

We will be graduating soon to the chipping green

I always thought a push cart/baby stroller might have a market.

That reminds me. I was throwing out old mail the other day and under it all were those balls I boxed up for you VT. I totally forgot about mailing them as I was a little short on cash that day and put it off. You still want/need them?

it also depends on temperature too. i went out there when it was little bit warmer, and that ~200yd green i could almost reach (w/in 10yds) w/ my 7iron, as to few days ago when it was in high 40's and i was about 20 yds short.

they are hard, but i still manage to leave shredded peices on my sw-7i grooves
