questions about powdercoating irons

would this have a negative effect on the impact of the iron on the ball? i have an older set of taylormade 320s that are still in awesome shape but i was thinking of having them sandblasted and powdercoated black.. then i got to thinking that the powdercoat would effect the impact.. someone tell me i'm right to save me from blowing money on perfectly fine irons

Any coating will change the impact qualities of the club. Powder coating is very hard compared to other coatings and also a lot smoother than a typical club face. You would most likely end up really changing the ball spin properites of the face which could really effect you ball flight.

Besides, you would probably kill any resale value of the clubs if you are planning to sell them down the line.

Leave than as is or send them out to a professional oufit to have them refinished.

Just my opinion.

haha.. if i do anything i wanna do black.. i just wanna spice them up a little..

its weird how i'm so attached to an older set of irons.. i've hit all the new stuff on the market and for me nothing compares to these old 320s

I hear you. Once you find something that your comfortable with, change is hard. Almost like the clubs know they are under pressure and suddenly bring out a few of those amazing shots that you fell in love with so long ago.

I bought those 300's off Fleabay yesterday. Today I hit 5iron into the 186 yd. uphill par 3, pin back. Had the hearbeat going as the 1yd. fade never left the stick... now I need to put some pressure on the putter. How do you leave an uphill, dead straight 7footer a revolution short when you just saw 2 of them.

If you're OK with the faces, they can powder coat everything but that and I think that would prevent a different impact? KJust tell them to mask the grooves.

you got some TM 300's? how much did you pick them up for?

i got my full set of 320's in mint condition.. with a ping hoofer bag.. 300 series driver and 3 wood and a callaway big bertha hawkeye for the insane price of $120 at a pawn shop.. (guess it helps when your cousin works there) but this was a year ago

last week my friend nick got a set of 320s which included a 2 iron and a sand wedge (mine didnt have either of those) but was missing a 7 iron and also came with a 300 series driver and 3 wood with an adams bag for $200.. these clubs can be had for a nice price and are truely awesome irons

Ez, change is hard?

This coming from the Ho Master himself who has probably not played the same drive head/shaft combination for more than two weeks straight and ho's additional iron sets just to see how they play?

Sorry, Ez, I just found that remark a bit too funny to let slip by.
