Driver Loft

In the first pic you can see the lofts of 8º, 9º and 11º I displayed with a line out from each. In the second pic (250 yards) you can see how much difference these angles make. I believe the golfers swing plane has alot more to do with loft then the club face angle. Of course the shaft characteristics also enter in. Kind of fun playing with this.

Other factors that would enter into the "actual" loft would be ball spin characteristics, club face characterics (low spin, high spin) swing speed etc. This is just the basics.

*stars in front of eyes* ... still chasing the dream huh WBL .. I see from the sig line the TEE has gone ... the Callaways have exited on the ball front .. I've a lot of catching up to do .. guess I'll start on the 300 equipment reviews you've done since last I was on air

Errr, WBL, except for some of the Wishon drivers, they ALL have a bulge and roll on the face.

So unless you are catching the ball in the exact same spot every single time, your launch angle is also going to be determined by where on the clubface you make contact.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

That's another factor I missed. I just assumed ideal conditions (center hit) and no bulge and roll to muddy up the drawing.

I like to assume ideal conditions when I play golf, too.

With my shorter backswing I rarely hit outside the sweet spot with the driver so that's one of the few "ideal" conditions I can count on.

The rest sucks.....

Last July at Rivermoor CC in Waterford Wisconsin (where I live). Had my new Pings for only a week. 157 yard par 3 with water in front. Wind in my face so used a 6-iron. It was a "slam dunk". No bounce and roll in. I knew I hit a beauty by the "feel" (yes, Pings have feel) and it dropped right down at the flag and I lost it. Walked up and looked around the green and finally in the cup and there it was. I was playing alone but luckily the ranger was parked watching it and he signed my card and the paperwork. Bought the bar a drink (only a few in there luckily) and got a trophy from the golfcourse and my name in the PGA website. Got a plaque from Bridgestone (E6 ball), a plaque from Ping and missed out on the Ping drawing for a new set of clubs and bag given to all the acers during the year using Pings. Must have been alot of them since the odds were pretty good. But I never win anything.
