My first match

Hi all. You all know i've made the team, but i've been struggling to score well lately, and havent been able to play in the starting rotation. However, i was scheduled to play the #6 varsity spot on Thursday. Come game day, i was switched to the #2 JV spot, our first JV match( I was scheduled to play #1 JV the day before, but the match was rained out)

Anyway, we got to the course and it was storming. The drizzle had stopped, but winds were blowing around 40 mph or more, as it is a links designed course. The greens had also been ver poorly aerated, and had not been filled, so the greens were total guesswork. I have never played the course before, and it was only my second time playing links.

The course has a tough front 9, which we were competing on. It also has 169 bunkers. I started out with a double bogey on the first hole, and was 2 down after 1. I parred the next while my opponent doubled, so we were even after 2. I bogeyed the next hole and my opponent parred, so i was down by 1 heading to the 4th hole, one of the hardest par 3's in the state, about 205 yards uphill with a dome green that has no room for error anywhere(short is a little better than long) I greened it, but 3 putted after i missed a 2 footer, but my opponent doubled or tripled, so we either tied or i was 1 up. The next hole i missed another 2 footer, but it was for birdie and my opponent bogeyed, so i started gaining. The next hole was playing at 450 dead on into a wind that was blowing HARD in our face, at least 40 mph. I had a 2 hybrid left in from 210, and put it to around 12 feet, and had a treacherous putt, but stopped it 4 inches away and parred.

The next hole was playing with a left to right crosswind, and was slightly downhill but soaked. I hit a great drive, and my opponent smoked his right down the pipe about 280 yards. My ball was nowhere to be seen from where he was. I was just about ready to give up when i spotted my PINK about 80 yards ahead, for a nice 360 yard drive. I hit my wedge to a pin that i couldnt see, stuck it about 8 feet away and 2 putted for par. The next hole was a par 5 which i lipped out for birdie on, and made par. I was 5 strokes up coming into the last hole, a par 3. I missed the green left and bogeyed, while my opponent managed a smooth 16.

I shot 41, which tied the #1 man on varsity, was 1 stroke behind the varsity medalist, and beat out the other 4 varsity playas by respectable margins. I ended up with JV medalist honors, and won the match by 17 strokes to help our team win 5-2 over a tough opponent. I was pleased, except for my putting(didn't make a single putt outside 2 feet, missed 3 2 footers as well) Oh well, there's room for improvement

edited....i was lazy

Damn that was poor writing... Let me edit it...

I only post a sentence or two at the end of some of the paragraphs, so this is his original post excepting those comments. Hopefully this makes it more readable for golfers.

Hi all:

You all know i've made the team, but i've been struggling to score well lately, and havent been able to play in the starting rotation. Bastards always trying to hold the black man down...

However, i was scheduled to play the #6 varsity spot on Thursday. Come game day, i was switched to the #2 JV spot, our first JV match( I was scheduled to play #1 JV the day before, but the match was rained out) Anyway, we got to the course and it was storming. Raining like a bitch.

The drizzle had stopped, but winds were blowing around 40 mph or more, as it is a links designed course. The greens had also been ver poorly aerated, and had not been filled, so the greens were total guesswork. I have never played the course before, and it was only my second time playing links. Links are for fags and bastards in my opinion, but hey, I can learn to love the links...

The course has a tough front 9, which we were competing on. It also has 169 bunkers. I started out with a double bogey on the first hole, and was 2 down after 1. I parred the next while my opponent doubled, so we were even after 2. Ownage.... pure ownage...

So he was kind of looking at me funny, and I was going to kick his ass right then and there, but I had a game to finish...

The next hole i missed another 2 footer, but it was for birdie and my opponent bogeyed, so i started gaining. The next hole was playing at 450 dead on into a wind that was blowing HARD in our face, at least 40 mph. I wouldn't piss against that wind, let me tell you...

Don't hate the pimp, hate the limp... Ya'll feel me?

I hit my wedge to a pin that i couldnt see, stuck it about 8 feet away and 2 putted for par. The next hole was a par 5 which i lipped out for birdie on, and made par. I was 5 strokes up coming into the last hole, a par 3. I missed the green left and bogeyed, while my opponent managed a smooth 16. I am kicking his fandango ass like I am killing snakes...

I shot 41, which tied the #1 man on varsity, was 1 stroke behind the varsity medalist, and beat out the other 4 varsity playas by respectable margins!!! I tied his ass, but I do plan to physically kick his ass on Monday when we get back to school. Big ass bastard...

I ended up with JV medalist honors, and won the match by 17 strokes to help our team win 5-2 over a tough opponent. I kicked their asses so hard, my foot is still soaking in ice water, as I write...

I was pleased, except for my putting(didn't make a single putt outside 2 feet, missed 3 2 footers as well) ...

Oh well, there's room for improvement you bastards...

How is it that Spank and Neal can have the same story happen to both of them?

Wow. That's crazy.

Neal -

Great job!! You did a great job of keeping your head about you in very challenging conditions.

This is the kind of match that will steel you for the future.

(Between now and your next tourney report - DO try to bone up a bit on your writing skills!!)

Keep the reports coming...

I agree Neal, but I'd pay more attention in your english grammar classes then to the "style" spank doggies uses. In my opinion his flow is no better than yours.

Paragraphs don't necessarily need to be inserted just for the sake of having them. (this is what SD did in an attempt to break up the text to make it LOOK neater). A paragraph should be an idea or thought put in text; when the next idea comes, you then can start a new paragraph.

Keep up the great golf and good luck in school! This has been professor Divot's class for the day. Tomorrow we will tackle misplaced modifiers.

It more than "for the sake of having them" It's so I can read the dang thing.

Without the seperation, my mind starts to buzz and my eye's lose their focus then I just give up and make a smart ass remark.....hehehe.

The next lesson will be on the correct usage of "loose" and "lose"

While I agree that the original post could use several paragraphs, I'm not sure that I would have chosen to break the text up as SpankDoggie did. I guess that was my point.
