congrats man.. my ultimate goal at this point is to shoot a 76.. i've shot a 77 on 2 separate occasions and thats with a good 2 or 3 stupid misses on short putts..

i know how you feel.. breaking a point that you've been wanting to break is an amazing feeling..l and just think.. if you would have just got a bogey or even a double on that second hole.. you woulda broken 80.. nice job man

First off, congrats on breaking the century barrier!

Now, why golf is so damn maddening... woulda, coulda, shoulda. You've been trying to put two 9s together to break 100 now for a year and half and you start off with a "normal" (I'm guessing you're usually 48-55 if this is your first sub100), then you come in with a career low 9. I can tell you from recent personal experience, it's a blessing and curse to know that you have a such a low 9 in you! From here on out every 9 will now be woulda, coulda, shoulda as you try to duplicate/better that 39. And you thought trying to break 100 was going to make you go insane...

the back nine just felt like everything came together.. My drives were straight at around 270 yards.. my 5 wood off the deck was like an arrow and my short game/putting was good as well.. I have been averaging around 100-108 range.. now this is with a few blow up holes and a few pars.. If i can control the bad holes more and not blow up then I will see 90's more often..

Yeah if my 2nd hole was a triple at most I would be in the 80's... Now that would have been really funny... But now onto my new hump.. Breaking 90!! I love this game!

Totally reminds me of the first time I broke 100 which was the same day I broke 90. Also took me about 2 years to do. I have told this story here before, but I'll do it again since it's fitting.
I shot a 38 front, thinking, "sweet, even if I shoot 61, I'm going to break 100". Then I proceed to shoot a 44 on the back nine for an 82 on the day (par 71). My goodness what a day. Stupid thing is I was playing as a single that day so I didn't know my playing partners. My friends still have doubts I shot an 82 (I'm a regular 95+ player). That was less than a year ago, but I have yet to get even close to 90 since. Sigh...

Congrats!!!!.....I can still remember that milestone myself!! The fact that your capable of shooting a 39 is a great indication that the 90 and 80 barriers should be attainable quicker than you think!!!

Rob's right. I'll open up pandora's box here though and say -- just think what you could have scored if you had not had the blowup 11 on #2? What if it was a 7 (double) instead?

That is one of the few thoughts I take with me every time I play. "No worse than double bogey on any hole". Of course I don't always succeed, but it really helps when I start to get in trouble on a given hole. At that point it's "minimize the damage".

But congrats! Breaking 100, then 90, then 80 are all major milestones you'll remember forever.
