Lost my sand wedge Shot 76 from the whites at Harding (minus the 56 wedge, which would have come in handy a couple times) and it could/should have been a lot lower. That course is so much easier from the white tees.

To Golfsmith today to get a new 588

Shot a pretty satisfying 87 - course rates at 138, so at my cap I should be around the 87-89 range, give or take. Driving is bad. Just bad. I hit one fairway, and it was off the #18 tee. I spent so much time under trees I think it's a miracle I broke 150...ugh. Beautiful day, though. Partly cloudy, 85 degrees. Can't ask for better weather.

Solid iron play bailed me out again, as well as an amazing wedge game and decent putting (33 putts). I think I'm coming around on the putting. Two three-putts, no four-putts.

Number 9 was embarrassing, though. 135 yards, uphill to the green. I pushed a 9 iron over this tree and into the foursome in front of me who was just about ready to drive away. My ball flew into the guy's bag on a fly. Now only if the hole had been there...

I'm new at this, just been doing it for the last few months.
Do you guys subtract your hadicap from your actual score, when you post these numbers?

I would hate to shock anyone, with my 131 for today.

In my defense however, today was the first game that I have not played from the ladies T.

I was in the 110's from there, but have now fallen back.

If I had any sense, I'd quit this game right now.
I think I'm hooked.

Not sure. I post my real number. It's great to tee it up from the white tees for the first time - it's part of macho golf, finally teeing it up....ahem, where you belong. (I taught one of my buddies the game, too - I made him tee it up from the white tees regardless, because I refused to drive up the ladies tee and watch a grown man tee off from there. I wouldn't be caught dead with that.)

And, yes, if you have any sense, quit while you still can.

I shot a 42 today on 9 holes, with a nice bag fat 7 to end my day. Driving's still bad - 1 fairway. Iron play's good, though, because I still got 5 greens, as well as an up and down from 160 yards to save par. Putting's getting there, with 15 putts.

Number 9 was a disaster, as usual. I usually hit 3 iron to the dog leg left instead of cutting the corner...but I was thinking birdie all the way to break 40. Mistake...drive not only cuts the corner but lands in the trees on the far side in a really bad downhill lie. Second shot, topper. Third, pushed into a tree, came back at me. Fourth shot, topper. Fifth onto the fringe, and then two-putted. Ugh.

It's the same hole where I put a ball into a guy's bag yesterday from 135 yards.

went into a tournament thinking i'd play great becuase my last 4 rounds have been 77,78, 83 (73.8 slope 142 rating) and 79. I played like sh!t. Didnt get a GIR until the 12th hole. Ended up with a 87. Going through some swing changes though so i will just have to tough it out i guess.

I played 9 with Razor today..............he started out with two double bogey 6s...................and parred 6 of the next 7 holes (bogeyed the other) for a 41. Could have been a nice 9 without those first two doubles. He missed 3 makeable birdie putts. I had my typical 44.

At first I didnt realize that was the ladies tee.
Where I play, they have 4 different tees.

I'm on the first one back from the ladies right now.

Now that I'm driving a little better, I may move on up one more.

Unless you're 1) under 12 and 2) under 5'2'' you have no business hitting from the red tees.

That's not man golf. That's mouse golf.

Man golf is busting 300 yard drives down the middle from the tips, never laying up in front of a hazard, hitting low raking iron shots into greens and always going through, over, or under (instead of around obstacles - such as trees). And, always cut the corner of dog-legs, it will shorten those long holes in a hurry. Trust me, you'll have more fun.

I wasn't being that serious...

But, I am being serious about it being more fun. When you actually pull off the hail mary of low-percentage shots you've got bragging rights for at least the next week and you can rub it in your buddy's face (that buddy who laid up or left it short) for the rest of that day.

Oh yeah, definately.

I was playing it safe last week, dog legs was just taking the 3 iron for a solid 230-240. Got to an arroyo where I had to carry it at least 295 to clear, and thought, screw it.

GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made it,

Had my worst putting day in recent memory. Granted, bumpy wet Harding greens didn't help but it was ugly.
