Man golf is busting 300 yard drives down the middle from the tips, never laying up in front of a hazard, hitting low raking iron shots into greens and always going through, over, or under (instead of around obstacles - such as trees). And, always cut the corner of dog-legs, it will shorten those long holes in a hurry. Trust me, you'll have more fun.
I cought a 300 pound trout on the Ocoee river this morning.
The darnest thing, just as I was ready to take a picture, so I could prove it, the thing just stood up, smacked me on the head, and jumped back in the water.

Shout a 45 on the front nine of Fox Run. (71/138, I think...) That course is a killer. Your ball is either in the fairway or it's in the hopelessly unplayable and unfindable woods on both sides of every hole. And, the greens are like parking lots, stimping to a 14, I'd bet. Yeah, that bad.

Bogey golf isn't horrible, but it's not spectacular, either. I always struggle with this course.

And I'm coming across the ball with an outside in. It's annoying when you play a draw and get a fade instead.

Why do you struggle with that course?

The greens are really hard - really fast, with steep and irregular undulations. I'm bad at reading breaks, and combine that with a downhill putt, and I'm looking at four putts already.

Ouch. Why not lag putt them?

I played a local nine hole course (par 27) and shot 3 over par. That beat my previous personal best on that course by 3 strokes. I missed several birdie putts, made one, and made a 6 footer for par on the last hole. I've been working on keeping my left wrist flat on my back swing, and it's really been paying dividends. I hit 6/9 greens, and had no 3 putts. I hit some pretty nice wedge shots, and walked away pretty pumped. If I can take that kind of ball striking to a full length course, I should have no problem getting my handicap in the teens this year.

Another problem with my game - my lag putting absolutely sucks. Up until about a month ago, my putting was simply bad all over (three putting was good), and I played to about a 25. Then one tip - taking a short backswing and accelerating through the ball on short putts - shaved about 8 strokes off my game instantly. My iron play shaped up, and I am where I am right now.

If I have a 40 footer, I'm pretty much guaranteed to three-putt it, because odds are I'll leave it 15 feet short or 15 feet long - and 20 feet off line.

Three doubles today, shot 80. Ugly day but there's hope on the horizon with my long game. More horrible putting.

Great round! I'm jealous, no eagles for me this year...

On the good side, I haven't made anything worse than a triple bogey and only 6 of those all year. No really bad blowup holes, not many three putts and I'm threatening par on almost every hole. My game is finally getting solid again.

Hehe, don't hold your breathe MGP. About 8 eagles for me this year, and a snowman on a par 3.

True, now that I've said it the next time out I'll probably knock a couple OB, dunk a few and 4 putt a couple greens.
