Golf Destination Club Help

Has anyone ever been a member of a golf destination club?

I recently heard about one of these called the Markers Club. They have locations all over North America and are opening up locations in Europe soon as well. They have luxury homes you are able to stay in close to nice golf courses at each of these locations. It sounds like a great deal but before I invest that kind of money I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this company or another like it. Any advice or help you could give would be great.

If you would like to check out the club then go to themarkersclub.com. Also feel free to let me know what you think or if you know of a better company that offers this kind of deal.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Marty, but you may have to talk to a higher power to advertise on ST!

Can everyone help Sling welcome our new buddy Marty.

Here's how to 'grease the skids' Marty.....

You contact the site owner (that's me) and offer him a free trip for 4 including airfare.

I then select my crew and off we go......to do an in depth review of your 'club'

Then, when we get back we say wonderful things about the trip and many of our wealthy golfing brethren will leap at the chance to try your product.

Having some evening "entertainment" on hand is also a good idea.

Otherwise, I just dismiss your thread out of hand and ban you from the site for spamming the board (all webmaster's really frown on this).

Think about it.

ok....

It's always interesting to me to see the reaction of people like Marty when I decide to toy with them a little.

I have had two emails from this group and I have looked at their site and I have to say that while the initial 'pitch' was sloppy the program overall looks VERY, VERY cool.

Very, very expensive to a guy like me but some of you may be able to swing it.

The program was not explained to me but it looks like a time share of sorts only in a great golf course home rather than some seedy condo.

I'll let Marty or Mitch explain it if he likes.

Here are the basics for the club. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact The Markers Club at 1-800-745-0065 or you can post them on this thread and I will get the answers for you.

Concept: Basically you are purchasing a lifetime club membership for a one-time fee of $285,000 that comes with the amenities of destination club luxury homes. Some of these amenities include:
• In the house is a big plasma screen TV, a stocked fridge, concierge service, an in-house massage from a nearby spa and a Tour bag full of the latest equipment for you to demo while in residence.
• Invitations to members-only golf events in the United States and abroad, led by top golf professionals and personalities like Dave Marr Jr.
• Access to more than 200 exclusive golf clubs in 38 states, including San Diego, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach. All a Markers member has to do is reserve a tee time, show up and pay a $25 cart fee while their guests can also join them by paying the club guest fee.
• N.Y. Members get PGA Tour access passes, Golf Digest School lessons, spa services, and a number of opportunities to participate in a variety of golf-related experiences including clinics and events
• Many more

Use: You get 56 days to use the residence per year -- 21 are covered by dues and the other nights are charged at $250 per night.

Costs: Family membership costs $285,000; dues $16,500 per year. Four partners can purchase a joint membership at $325,000; dues $18,500. Corporate memberships cost $375,000; dues $20,500. Spouses are included in the golf memberships, while guests pay the club guest fees.

Thanks for your patience Sling.

Marty

So Marty, if I'm doing the math right, the annual dues divided by the 21 nights is approx $800/day for golf and accomodations - what kind of dues increases are expected in the future?

I can stay in some nice hotels and play alot of different courses on that budget - why's this a "great deal"?

*disclaimer* RickinMA travelled a good amount for work and thanks to Marriott Reward points and frequent flyer programs hasn't paid for a vacation in 5+ years *disclaimer*
