Open Qualifying - Final Qualifiers

Well all bar a few spaces and The Open Championship line up is complete, the really tough way of getting in was played out over four courses monday and tuesday and there was only 3 spots per location on some really tough links tracks

OPENGOLF - Qualification - Local Final Qualifying]

Montrose GC:
If you look at the qualifier in 2nd place, he is a local lad and used to be a drinking partner of mine and his dad is also a member at my club, what a round eh!! 62 course record, thats the way to do it.

Also a bit further down in tied 16th is a former junior member of ours who was poached by St Annes Old Links for his potential!!

I cant wait for it to start.

Graeme McDowell is becoming a bit of an expert at back door qualifying for the Big events. Did well at US Open q'fing. Seems to be able to peak at these qualifying gigs, needs to keep momentum going for The Real Deal.

Panmure looks a fantastic track .. spotted it on the way out of Dundee on the way to Carnoustie .. doesn't appear to be a links course, - I see that young Justin Kehoe also made the cut - he won the World University Golf champs a few years back...There should be a good Irish representation at The Open .. (no winner tho)..

Paul Waring from Bromborough is a quality player, he will make a smooth transition into the pro ranks, but the standard has definitely risen in the past few years.

I will try to speak to Dave and find out what his experiences were like.

I always watch Graeme with interest as he played his college golf here and I know his coach...he is a great fellow...

I think the winner of the John Deer Classic gets an invite. He needs to get his skates on though, seven off the lead at the mo.
