New Golf Movie

What does everyone think of this, "Who's Your Caddy?"

Happy Gilmore was funny, trying to show a crazy side of golf that really doesn't exist, but it was done well and showed some traces of intelligence.

This just feels like, "Let's mix up a bunch of 'brothas' and the white-guy golf, and see how funny their, 'hip,' and crazy attitudes affect it."

At least, that sounds like the marketing ploy. Stupid movie, thank the heavens I don't have to watch it.

I think the idea of a comedy golf movie got killed the minute Caddyshack was released - it was just perfect, and anyone who ever tries to make a movie even 1% similar will always be compared to it. It's just like anyone who tries to make a comedy movie about a rock band will just get totally crushed by the legacy of 'This Is Spinal Tap'...

From the posters I've seen of it - I've not seen a trailer for it in any of the recent films I've been out to see - it looks like it could be another 'Soul Plane', designed entirely for one specific audience and likely to be hated by everyone else.

Well, I think Adam Sandler made Happy Gilmore pretty good, and it appeals to a larger audience as you said.

To my understanding, 'Gilmore was not really "hated" by anyone, as that is quite a strong word.

But this, this is just insulting.

Is that for real? I would rather watch another god awful Caddyshack sequel than watch that.

Personally I don't mind Happy Gilmore but I'm not particularly a fan of Adam Sandler's films as a whole. To me it's not really a 'golf movie' though, more of a movie that features golf as part of its plot. The fact the 'golf' he plays is so far removed from reality kind of ruins it being a proper golf movie for me.

I always enjoy 'Tin Cup', but my two favourite golfing moments on film have to be the scene in Goldfinger where 007 goes out to play golf with the title character, and that wonderful scene in 'Lost In Translation' where Bill Murray goes out onto that misty Japanese course and stripes one down the middle.

I like the golf movies, Tin Cup, the Bobby Jones one, The legend of Bagger Vance, all good golf movies, happy gilmore and caddyshack were both awesome.

The tricky thing with golf movies is I dont see how they make any money in the grand scheme of things, yes there are tons of golfers out there, but not enough to make that much money in the box office...

Yeah, but I don't think this one is going to be a good golf movie. It just looks so dumb. It's not even like, "Next Friday" funny.

Question What new movie?

"Who's Your Caddy", huh?
Can't say I've heard of it.
Probably a good thing though.

Based on the previews, I hope I don't see it until it's on video. My kids will probably want to watch it sooner.
