I have a question regarding golf attire for that time of year. Since I have really only been playing 4 months now, I obviously haven't played in cool weather. What sort of jacket, sweater, etc is a good choice for playing on those colder days?

Anything that doesn't restrict your swing ...............I wear a sweater vest over a golf shirt and maybe a loose fitting made-for-golf windbreaker. That should be good.

Golf tournament.

Teed off at 9:00am. Temperature: 33 degrees F. Wind: 20-30mph.

Golf attire: Thermal underwear (tops and bottoms), sweater, thinsulate jacket, winter hat, winter gloves, scarf, earmuffs.

Result? Of 24 people who teed off, I was one of 6 who finished. My face was frozen. My hands were frozen. My feet were frozen. I parred the 18th hole without being able to feel anything in my hands.

One of the most memorable golf experiences of my life. It was a true test of will.

My point is - pay attention to the weather report as you approach the day. As sssmokin said, the weather in early October is usually fairly nice. Mid 50's or so. But Wisconsin weather can creep up and bite you that time of year.

A nice loose sweat shirt works good.

A golf "wind shirt" works works. Made with Micro fiber. Light yet wind does not penetrate and water beads off.

Man, I am too! sssmokin and I will have our black "shot talk" hats on with our names on the back and zaphod already knows us so it shouldn't be hard to "group up" when you get there. Here's a map. Watch closely for the entrance. It's not well marked! Coming "from" Wautoma it will be on the left before the stop light (you'll see the course) and the road is on the Wautoma side of the course....

I just wanted to add that there is no strict dress code................very casual............jeans are fine, and don't need shirts with collar etc. If anyone not listed already decides to come, be sure to send Warbirdlover a PM so we can get more tee times if needed. Should be fun if weather will co-operate.
