Anyone use GC handicap deal

Does anyone use that Golfchannel handicap deal? I was checking it out and it looks decent. My Golfserve ran out. Problem is I'm not sure I can bring scores over, might have to start all over. I have no idea what my score was for each hole and the GC one requires it.

you should get in the habit of having some sort of box or area for your score cards.. its better for if you ever need to redo your cap, or just look back for reference..

and yeah, i ve heard many many good things about it... it is free?? i just might have to switch over...

No. It's $29.99 per year. Same as Golfserve but looks like you get a lot more. You can do the free one but can't get a USGA cap with it unless you pay. The stats are cool. You can track fw's hit, where you missed them, GIR, where you missed them, drive distances... pretty good analysis stuff. I'm missing greens right and drives left, lol. I need a bag like I saw sitting outside the shop today. Dude had a SuperquadTP and set of Slingshot OSS's.

Sometimes I try to fight it. Then hitting a draw out of the left rough isn't my best shot.

Wow you guys can get ur handicaps for only 29.99 a year... i guess im missing something.. in California i had a NCGA card which was 37.99 a year.. i come to florida it was same thing and now Arizona same thing.. except this time I think im going to try to do something through the school golf team.. hopefully that will make things cheaper..

I still can't believe that you guys actually have to pay to keep your own handicap. Everything here in AUS is controlled by your home club and the Australian Golf Union. For no charge.

Sounds like we're lucky or you guys get ripped. Either way....

Same thing in Canada. My club and the RCGA take care of everything and I can access my scores at home as well.

I just started using the GC handicap service a couple of months ago. I've never figured a handicap before, so I have nothing to compare it to. Feel free to ask any questions, but I'll provide a quick overview:

The service is pretty good, although I don't use the on-line videos very often. The ones I have used are good, though. As for statistics, you can keep a detailed overview or a summary.

The service ties you to a "local clubl." I live in Montgomery, Alabama, and my local club is in Birmingham. I supposed that will work if I ever need an official USGA card.

The summary format works best for me. At this point, I don't keep a detailed track of my rounds so that I know the exact distance of each stroke and whether it missed right or left. The summary lets me keep a record of FW, GIR and number of putts. I could add putting distance, driving distance, etc., but I don't want to compute these during a round and make notes of them.

Is it accurate? I don't know. I've been shocked at how low my handicap is, although I'm playing the best golf of my life. I'm listed as an 8.9, based on scores of 77, 84, 87, 82, 83, 93, and a nine hole score of 41.

Does that sound like it's in the right range, without knowing slope, etc?

Yeah, that's about right assuming it's off a reasonably challenging course. The lowest slope I play is a 119 and the highest a 135. I think the other 3 most played are 125, 125 and 129. Mine is coming in at an 8.5 now with 3 77's, 2 79's and the rest low to mid 80's.

The stat tracking is really cool on the Golfchannel one. It can be used free without the videos and ability to get an "official" cap. I noticed you don't have to keep every stat, just the ones you choose to. I like that I can enter where I missed the drive and the green. The only thing I'd want more with that is to know whether I used 3W or driver. I'm still looking like I'm getting more distance average and more fairways out of my 13* 3w over my driver.
